Feast at East Very clean establishment! Sushi is incredibly fresh and delicious! If sushi isn't your thing, try their sashimi! Wonderful also!
They feature a generous helping of sushi on little plates going around a conveyor belt. You pick what you want, keep the plate, and, at the end, your waiter will add up the plates and give you your total. Example, a plate with 3 california rolls is only $1!!!
Sometimes it's tough to get refills... and when you want to leave, you need to flag down someone. []

East is best East is one of the best affordable sushi restaurants near NYC. The food is always fresh and the chefs takes great care to ensure that each piece of fish is up to snuff. They offer an East Card (frequent eaters card) that is worth it even if you only use it once. The card costs $20 and gets you a $20 gift certificate and 10% off everytime you use it. Well worth it!!! Great! The fish is fresh -- there is definitely no doubt about that, but slightly lacking for the true enthusiast. The service is consistently not very good, from difficulty getting the attention of the staff, to the waiter simply forgetting parts of your order. Luckily, your contact with them is minimal especially if you are there for the sushi. [10 Feb 2003 17:41:19]

Affordable Sushi Restaurant The best thing about East is that you can pick a small plate of different kinds of sushi off the conveyor belt that goes around the chef's station. If salmon is your fish, you can just eat salmon. If you only like tuna, you can do it too. Prices range from $1 a plate to $5.
Of course, they also have tables away from the chefs. You can order from the menu with practically everything Japanese.
Quality is generally good but I usually stay away from $5 dish because they tend to go around the tables for a long time. (not many people want to spend $5 for two pieces of dragon rolls) Service is more than adequate but it tends to be crowded during dinner time.
They offer $20 membership which includes $20 coupon, $5 coupon around your birthday, and 10% everytime you use about 10-15 East restaurants in Manhattan. You should definitely get the membership. Also every week Monday and Tuesday (I think) they have special on tuna and salmon. Check the sign. [06 Nov 2004 10:40:24]

Edible at best If you are used to good sushi this is not the place for you. The cooked food was ok, but the sushi was basic at best, possibly the worst spicy tuna roll I ever had. No real specialty rolls. If you are in need of a sushi fix give it a shot. It is Very clean, has a decent menu, and the price is right. If you are looking for a quality sushi dinner, I would look elsewhere. [08 Feb 2007 09:13:48]
