Exceptional Oriental Veggie Cuisine A comfortable and welcoming restaurant in the heart of the Teaneck shopping district. A few desserts are vegetarian, but the rest is vegan. All the familiar Asian dishes are here, using vegetables and analogs in place of flesh. Soups, appetizers, Big Bowl noodle soups, tofu and vegetable entrees, steamed entrees, fried rice and noodles, Chef's Specialties, Vege "meat" and vege "seafood" entrees, and lunch special combo plates. NJ's best kept secret Looking at this restaurant from the outside, one has NO idea what's really going on inside. The food is out of this world. Veggie heaven is one of the reasons that I became a vegetarian. I now know of the greatness of meat substitutes - not just rice and beans and pasta! [08 Oct 2001 21:27:05]

This can't be Meatless! Food: My husband ordered "duck" soup and I had the Happy Family. We still can hardly believe what we ate was meatless. It was delicious, tasting almost exactly like the much less healthy dishes you can find in most Chinese restaurants. The "meat" really very much looked, tasted and had the texture of meat.
The service was good and the restaurant was clean and well decorated. [06 Feb 2002 21:48:43]

Delicious Being a vegan there isn't too many places to dine at in this area. I stumbled upon Veggie Heaven in 1996 and go frequently. The food is excellent. The workers are nice and helpful. I HIGHLY recommend going. And when you do don't forget to finish your meal with some tofu ice cream. All flavors are DELICIOUS!! [28 Jun 2002 13:44:03]

My favorite restaurant. I've been here several times, and every time I come, the food astounds me. Although I'm vegetarian, I'm usually a picky eater. I feel that I could order absolutely any dish on the menu and be satisfied with my dinner.
Sometimes the waiter/waitress might be a little difficult to understand, but s/he is always very courteous and helpful. The atmosphere is pleasant and the lighting is comfortable. Overall, this is definitely my favorite restaurant. [09 Jan 2003 08:36:30]

Best Restaurant Ever! I first went to Veggie Heaven in 1999. I had been a vegan for 8 months then, and had some trouble finding good places to eat. When I ate there I was so overjoyed, I could hardly contain myself. I kept asking, "this really isn't meat?" The food is UNBELIEVABLE!!! I go there every single week now, and I still get very excited every time I go. The staff there knows me now, and they are all extremely helpful, and the place is spotless. Veggie Heaven is awesome!! Veggie Heaven staff must be sick of all the customers going, "Are you SURE that there's no meat in this?" because I hear it at least once every time I am there... and yes, I too am guilty. I posed this very same question the first time I ever ate there. The "vege meat" is nothing short of addictively amazing. As a vegan, I usually get a lot of crap from other people about food ("So, you just eat like salad, right?") but they hush up real fast when I introduce them to Veggie Heaven. In fact, my meat-loving manager has me pick up the "chicken with broccoli" on my way to work so that she can have it for dinner that evening. Plus, she always reminds me to tell the Veggie Heaven staff to open one in her town. I have to say that I am proud of the food this restaurant serves... many people do not understand veganism and Veggie Heaven is the perfect "ambassador". [05 Apr 2003 21:15:08]
Food: Service: Ambiance: Overall: Recommended Dishes: Chicken with Broccoli (oh yeah), crispy stuffed tofu, sizzling steak platter, sesame chicken, mongolian beef, vanilla almond ice cream (mmm), the cheesecake, and DO NOT forget the BBQ sticks (chicken and beef)! Please note that the 'meat' they use for the lunchtime specials is different than the 'meat' they use for the dinner meals. I do not suggest the 'lunch special meat' (there's a reason why it's less $). Go for the dinner 'meat'.

Best restaurant in NJ The first time I went with my husband we were not quite sure of the food, but as we finished our meal, the first thing he told me is to learn the recipes of this restaurant. The food is out of the world. From then onwards, we have been there many times. The service is welcoming and everything is good about this place. [27 Jun 2003 11:35:07]

This meat eater appreciates VEGGIE CUISINE This restaurant is amazing. For the most part I am not into Tofu, Bean Curd and such, but I am really into this style of cooking. Tastes like meat amazingly enough. I would recommend this restaurant to everybody. YUM. [08 Jul 2003 16:52:30]
