Best Pizza This Side of Heaven By far the best pizza I've ever eaten... Thin crispy crust, fresh light tomato sauce. You can't stop eating until you've finished the whole pie. It's worth the trip from anywhere in New Jersey! My 80 year old Italian mother gets excited at the mention of the name. I'd almost move to Trenton just to be near it! (It's even better when they're playing Jerry Vale.) [14 Feb 2003 18:39:48]

The Two Delorenzos I'd like to share my opinion on the plusses and minuses of the two Delorenzo's Restaurants in Trenton. They are apparently owned by a pair of brothers who have a friendly rivalry going on.
Both Delorenzo's make what I would consider the best pizzas I've ever had. There are differences, though. The Hudson St. pizzas seem to come out with a crispier crust then the Hamilton Ave. location. However, the Hamilton Ave. location's crust has much more depth of flavor than the Hudson St. crust. The pizza sauce is also different. The Hudson St. location apparently uses crushed tomatoes, while the Hamilton Ave. location adds additional flavors to the tomatoes (garlic? salt? who knows?) but again, the taste is more complex and possesses a greater depth than at the Hudson St. Location.
In short, my ideal pizza would be prepared at Hamilton Ave. and cooked at Hudson St. Both make amazing pizzas, so try both and come to your own conclusion. [10 Nov 2003 08:03:14]

Pizza or Tomato Pie? It don't matter, this is Pizza, and it's the best. If you want a Pizza, you go to Delorenzos.
Differences between the two Delorenzos aside (and let me say, every Italian uses garlic in his sauce, cranrob, it's mother's milk) this is the best Pizza in the Tri-state Area... it doesn't matter if you mean NJ/NY/PA or NJ/NY/DE this is the greatest pizza. Every guy or gal I know gets excited about Delorenzos.
This is your classic Trenton style pizza at it's best. Not many people ever really go into depth about the differences between New York and Trenton pizza, and the only detail I will is this: once you've tasted it you will know.
When I think of Pizza, I think of Delorenzos. The service is on top of everything. I love it so much I can't even go into detail. It's simply so wonderful it goes beyond my own comphrehension.
Just thinkin about it has my stomach churning. I'm hungry.
Peace. [26 Apr 2004 18:24:56]

There's no place like Trenton Tomato Pie I live in Michigan now but, I must have a Delorenzos Tomato Pie when I'm in Trenton. It's addicting. Does not matter which one. The Hamilton Ave. one has the restroom. I've tried pizza in many places. This is the best. [15 Mar 2005 16:02:06]

Great Pizza, No Ambiance Best pizza in the world. You'll probably have to wait for a table, but you won't be sorry. I prefer the Hamilton pizza over the Hudson St. pizza, but they're both excellent. I have no idea why people give either place high marks for ambiance. Very good service, though. [08 May 2006 23:34:30]

I would walk a 1,000 miles to get some DeLorenzos Pizza. Word of mouth. That's how I found about this little hidden treasure. And oh, how thankful I am. If you've never tasted old world style pizza, this is the only place you want to go for that experience. Forget about what the others claim to be, this my friend will touch your heart and fill your stomach and leave you wanting more. [16 May 2006 12:58:57]

Trenton Makes, The World Still Takes Traditional, thin crust pizza. Fresh, amazing toppings. The perfect blend of seasonings. One of life's simplest pleasures taken to it's logical conclusion. The best pizza in NJ almost automatically qualifies it as the best in the country. The only negative that finds its way into my ratings is for how small the tables are. Once you've eaten as many of their pies as I have, you need a little more room between your belly and the table.
An important factoid. Almost anywhere you eat is bound to screw up occasionally. Nobody is perfect, right? Well the amazing thing is, every single time I've had DeLorenzo's, it's been just as amazing as the last time. I've NEVER had a bad pie. At their busiest times, the quality control is still top notch. I suppose that's what keeps most of us coming back. In an unsure world, it is greatness that you can still depend on. Worth the Wait Go hungry but be prepared to wait. This is the best pizza around and everyone knows it. You can wait an hour to get a table on a Friday night. [07 Jul 2006 17:12:41]

The Best Hamilton. Hudson. Hudson. Hamilton.
While both are GREAT, one simple factor puts Hamilton Avenue above Hudson: The crust. While both are prepared to be thin and crisp only the crust from Hamilton Ave. has a flavor that enhances the overall experience. This alone should stop the decades-long debate, but I don't think it will ever end.
The master pie makers, Rick and Al, turn out the best pies in the world; blending just the right amounts of cheese, tomato, a little oil, and your favorite toppings. The only way you'll stop is when your tray is empty and you're too embarrassed to order another one.
Friendly, attentive service and a super-clean facility round out the pluses here.
Everyone has there own opinion and this is just mine. [12 Apr 2007 20:30:13]
