EXCELLENT The ambiance as well as the food has distinctive style. The crab roll appetizer & salmon entree I tried was awesome. The lava cake a complete death by chocolate... a must try. The service was friendly... got window seating by the hudson even on a crowded evening. The 45 minutes spent strolling on the pier was well worth the wait. [23 May 2003 12:23:58]

Doesn't Disappoint In search for a quiet romantic evening and wonderful food, my husband and I went to The Chart House. It was definitely a great experience. We called ahead for reservations and when we got there we were greeted by a valet parking attendant (which was great because it was freezing that night), once inside the restaurant we were seated immediately. There is no bad seat in the place because the view can be appreciated from virtually every seat. In the summer you can sit outside practically on the water. The food was wonderful and worth every dollar. The spinach salad with the warm dressing is a MUST. The cocktail shrimp are HUGE the calamari with their special sauce is AMAZING. As a main course the Prime Rib was GREAT, the Filet Mignon was like butter, and the Lobster Tails were delightful. Desserts are delicious the chocolate lava cake is a chocolate lover's dream, the creme brullee is also very creamy and not so sweet. We were not disappointed with our first visit. We have visited a few times now and have always had a great experience. The ambience is relaxed yet elegant and staff are very friendly and professional. [28 Aug 2003 14:50:30]

Yummilicious.. My ex took me there last year for both my birthday and our 6th year anniversary and I was very much pleased. I followed with a visit for my mom's 50th birthday and she was enchanted by it. Looking forward for the new boyfriend and I to go pay a visit SOON since this place is very romantic with an awesome view of the river and the city. [17 Sep 2004 15:09:22]

Incredible! The view was shadowed by the excellent food, and the wonderful service. Our server Antoine was fabulous! I am taking my wife there for her 40th birthday celebration.
Thank you for a lovely evening! [27 Apr 2006 21:09:15]

The best yet We went to the Chart House for a wedding reception. The view was spectular, the foods amazing and the service incredible. I can't wait to go with the family and let them experience not only the food but the view of the city. I also look forward to having a romantic dinner with my husband there. [20 Nov 2006 22:01:50]

Grilled Platter, a disappointment Enjoyed the decor and location. Found it a little noisy, so not a real romantic place. Most of the food, expecially the Lobster Bisque, was excellent and the appetizer tower was excellent as well. Grilled platter, a disappointment. Crab was not very fresh, actually got sick. Must have been a bad crab. Definitely pricey. [11 Jan 2007 19:48:05]

Good food, terrible service We had dinner reservations for 7:00PM on a Wednesday. We showed up on time and was given a pager. If I wanted a pager I would've gone to TGI Fridays. (and yes, I have see the Seinfeld episode about taking reservations and apparently the Chart House management has not) We waited 30 minutes in the bar. Then, we were seated in a booth facing the wall/entrance/land, as in no view... even though there were empty seats WITH VIEWS in the restaurant. I complained and we were moved to a different booth which faced the window, though it was not right by the window. We were told we'd have to wait (another) 40 minutes for one of those. At a restaurant where the view is the main attraction, and dinner is easily $30 a plate, this was really quite unbelievable. The food was very good though, and I resisted stiffing our server on the tip since she was very nice and it wasn't her fault. The management has no clue how to run a restaurant. Good food, but I was very disappointed in the service and the way I was treated, and therefore do not recommend The Chart House in Weehawken. [27 Sep 2007 13:58:47]

Thanksgiving Dinner 11/22/07... A Disaster! Dinner at the Chart House in NJ was a complete disaster! The buffet style dinner was horrendous! Service was poor. Ambiance was just plain "uncomfortable". The dining room was poorly lit: was very dark; we could barely see anything. The air conditioner was blowing right on us very strongly. Even though we did speak to our waitress, there was nothing she could do. Everybody was just freezing and eating in a rush for our food would get ice cold very quickly. The food was just plain nasty and tasteless and the roast beef at the carving station was tough as leather. A disaster all around. Will not go back at all, even though the Manhattan skyline was spectacular. [23 Nov 2007 21:25:33]
