Horrific Service If you are under 50 I would not recommend this restaurant unless you enjoy being treated poorly. We were just at Tuscany Trattoria on Saturday with a reservation for 4. From the moment we walked in we noticed that the crowd was much older, but being that we go to nice restaurants often we thought nothing of it until I had my first experience with age discrimination. The waiter was extremely short and rude with us. We were sitting at the table for more than 15 minutes before we were even acknowledged, being that it was a busy night we didn't mind. The waiter rushed us while we placed our drink order and than dinner order which he made very clear that he had to hurry because another table needed him to cut a cake. We waited over 1 hour between our appetizer and entree, and when we questioned the wait all we got was we're busy. How rude! The entrees were not worth the wait, not that they were horrible but definitely nothing special. How can you screw up spaghetti at an Italian restaurant- or maybe I'm too young to realize that spaghetti should be eaten crunchy! We decided to order dessert - of course they didn't have what I wanted and I ended up with my third choice - a Berry tart that came out dry - it looked like it was sitting on a counter somewhere for days. When we asked for the check my husband commented on the tart and the waiter acknowledged that it was left out and should have never been served to us - he asked if he should take it off the bill and we said yes, to our surprise he turned around and told us he couldn't because we ate more than half... hello you just asked if you should remove it. When we asked for the manager he said he was the manager - so we asked for the owner who refused to come out of the kitchen and just told the waiter/manager to remove one of the two tarts off the bill. At this point we just wanted to get out of there - we paid the bill and left a stingy 10% tip! I'm not usually critical of restaurants but with all the dining I have done in the US and Internationally this has been by far the worst experience ever - they would probaly learn a thing or two from a server at McDonalds. Best Italian In New Jersey If you want a place to take you away to Tuscany in Italy, experience great Italian food, like Arthur Avenue or Little Italy - then go to Tuscany in Westwood - where Walter, the owner, will great you at the door and the waiters and waitress will make you feel like home. After dinner - enjoy a drink at the bar, then dance the night away to great music. Can't wait till the summer - to sit outside on the patio deck!!! [21 Apr 2006 10:58:29]
