Sopapillas Of all the mexican eateries I have eaten, Alfredo's is by far the best. I personally have a weak stomach, and with all of the Mexican places I have eaten, I have had a stomach ache. When I actually had fresh, home made Mexican food, I had no problem. I ordered the sopapillas (dinner style) and was the best Mexican I ever had. We were on vacation from Florida and actually went back a second time, ordered the sopapilla to go and transported it all the way back to Florida. That is how good this place is. They make their own salsa, tortillas and everything else that goes with the Mexican cuisine. 10 out 0f 10 for me. [04 May 2007 23:38:51]

Sub-Par Mexican Food Alfredo's is much larger inside than you would expect when driving by. It is mostly tables and uncomfortable chairs, but there are some comfortable booths. It is somewhat dark inside, but not a bad atmosphere. Most of the customers this afternoon were somewhat elderly Anglo-types. The two young girls waiting tables were friendly and personable, and did a fairly good job. The food is the big complaint here!!! The chips were thin, whitish and rather anemic. The salsa was spicy but a pure orangish concoction that had a catsup taste to it. Ok, but not real good. We ordered a stuffed sopapilla with red pork and a green chile and potato burrito. The food was prepared fairly rapidly. The sopapilla itself (the shell) was unlike any I have had previously...shaped more like a big torta shell, fried and crisp. It (the shell itself) was pretty good, the highlight of the meal, but it all went downhill from there. The filling contained lettuce, tomato, and pork, but the pieces of pork were hard to find and the red sauce was not very tasty. It certainly was not real red chile sauce. I would rate this sopapilla average at best. The sauces outside of the Mesilla Valley restaurants, whether in Tucson, Silver City, Texas or whereever, tend to be inferior to the "real thing." The filling in the sopapilla was not really very good. The burrito was without question the worst burrito I have ever eaten...in fact, I did not finish it. I have had better frozen commercial burritos bought in the grocery store. The green chile sauce cannot really be described as green chile...it was some kind of whitish pasty substance. I was, to be truthful, plainly BAD!! I cannot recommend this restaurant unless you are desperate. I have eaten in Mexican restaurants all over the Southwest and I know good Mexican-New Mex cooking when I taste it. It is clearly not found here. [12 Sep 2007 17:55:52]
