Not That Great for Valentine's Day Four of us went to the restaurant last weekend on the 15th. Two ordered the special "Beef Wellington", my husband order the Sea Bass and I a pasta dish. The special's were tough, and way to garlicy with no juice. My husband's sea bass was the size of a shot glass and laid upon a bed of what he described as "spinach cow patty". I tasted the spinach and it was gritty and just plain yucky! The bread (filo sticks) served fell apart if you tried to put butter on them. The wine was way overpriced, I've bought them both at Cost Plus for less than 1/2 what you charge. All in all I'd say I would not spend that kind of money at your restaurant every again. I can say, you have good coffee. That's about it. [20 Feb 2003 15:35:27]

Albuquerque Petroleum Club I took some guests to the Albuquerque Petroleum Club Thursday April 16. The meals were expensive, about 40% over Albuquerque's best restaurants. My wife and I had Steak Diane which the Petroleum Club used to be famous for. It reminded me of the old Salisbury Steaks other than they used a good piece of beef. However it had a brown mushroom gravy over it that was without any character and tasted like it came from a can. I had a Caesar Salad that was supposedly made at the table. I have had better Caesar Salads at the Olive Garden. One of the guests had a salad that had dried chunks of Parmesan Cheese that tasted like cardboard. Her entre was a butterfly chicken breast that looked so terrible that I was afaid to ask her how it tasted. I cannot believe that the management has let the meals get so bad. I am a forty year member of the Petroleum Club and I cannot find a reason not to resign. [18 Apr 2004 16:09:43]

Petroleum Club My father was a member and took me to the Petroleum Club when I was 12 years old (1961). I had my first Filet Mignon at the Petroleum Club. I remember my father telling me I couldn't have it well done. It had to be eaten medium rare (also a first for me). I never forgot that experience. The chef himself came out to ask me how my steak was and fussed over me for a few minutes. I felt so grown up having dinner there. I had several more dinners there with my father that summer and enjoyed every one of them. Of course it was a long time ago and my father has passed away. I'm glad to know the Club is still going, but saddened at the few reviews I have read. [14 Feb 2006 15:11:07]
