Best breakfast burritos anywhere! Andrew Barela has mastered the fine art of burrito making in a state where even McDonalds serves them!
He uses quality tortillas, scrambles the eggs just right, adds wonderful green chiles, makes sure the hash browns are crispy, and tops it all with shredded cheddar. But the thing that sets his burritos apart from all others is the bacon (though you can have sausage, ham, chorizo, carne adovada, beef...or even a chile relleno included!) The bacon is cooked extra crisp and is crumbled so that it mixes through the entire burrito and stays crunchy! Most places use strips of bacon which become soggy and flaccid, and it is sometimes a struggle to bite off rather than pull out the whole thing!
You can get your burrito--wonderful just plain!--smothered in Andrew's non-traditional green sauce which has no pork (perfect for the vegetarian!) or a lovely, robust red sauce.
And the salsa--homemade--include regular (a savory tomato sauce with no fire), medium--which is made with jalapenos, and hot--which is made with the HOT stuff!
Finally--here's the surprise: a burrito costs $3.50!, $4.50 if smothered! The price, and quality, cannot be equaled anywhere! [17 Jul 2007 15:00:58]
