Don't waste your time or your money In the American Bar-B-Q Factory in Las Cruces, New Mexico, the big screen television is on a Mexican station, the waitresses are half dressed, the food is terrible, and the service is slow.
The restaurant looked appealing on the outside. When we walked in, the decor was attractive. Everything goes downhill from there.
It took seven minutes before anyone came to take our drink order and half an hour after that to get our food. About the time we were ready to get up and leave, we heard the cook scream "order up." Since we were the only people in the place without food, we knew it was ours. About six minutes later, the meals were brought to us.
"Cold" is the operative word here. My onion rings were cold. My wife got cold french fries. The gravy on my son's mashed potatoes were cold. His chicken strips were also cold and rubbery. My green beans, in a styrofoam cup, were at least lukewarm.
My brisket sandwich was tough; the meat tasted old and dried out. My wife had the same problem.
When we went to pay the check, there was no one there in management to complain to.
Because of the amount of money spent on the building and decor, I thought this might be a national chain and that I could complain to a national office. I found nothing about them on the web.
The McRib sandwich from McDonalds would have been a better choice for barbecue. We won't be wasting our time or money there again. [07 May 2006 13:41:47]

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I love the barbecue sauce, meat, chicken, and salad at this place. It has left me with a daily craving and need for a weekly fix of food. This restaurant is also one of the very few places where I can get beef ribs.
Just to FYI if you do eat at the American Bar-B-Que Factory, the only wait will be when the place is full of people, which has been the norm the last few times I have eaten there. It also has been well worth the short wait. [14 Feb 2007 14:32:04]

Doesn't Honor Pricing I was in this establishment this afternoon. Tried to use a LC Community Card which states that if I purchase 2 drinks and one sandwich the second sandwich is free. I ordered the 2 drinks and 2 sandwiches with no sides as per the description (no other stipulations on the card). When I went to pay I was charged for the drink and a sandwich with 2 sides (I didn't order or receive the sides).
When I asked the cashier about the charge for the 2 sides I was informed that that was the way he had been instructed to charge. I feel that I should have at least been asked if I would like to have the 2 sides if that is what I was charged for. Please be assured I will relate this experience to others. [16 Feb 2007 16:22:34]

Here's the Real Story...Trust Me! Great Place...Horrible Place! What is one to believe?? Here is the straight scoop! The American BBQ Factory looks nice from the outside. Inside it is reasonably cheerful and clean. The tables are numerous and large. Lots of room whether your party is two, four, or eight. I was seated immediately by a pleasant young hostess. (Who was not half-dressed as one reviewer stated, but looked presentable...as did all the help in a casual atmosphere of this sort). She asked me what I wanted to drink and a beverage was at my table momentarily. A waiter, who was pleasant and efficient, took my order. He was not the most polished or professional guy in the world, but one should not expect that kind of service in a place as this. The waiter and the hostess herself followed up with me at least three times during the meal. No complaints here. The food at the American BBQ Factory is the real problem. It is generally very mediocre and overpriced considering the lack of quality. The cole slaw was not very good. The BBQ beans were the only thing that was above average. The roll for the BBQ sandwiches was doughy and tasteless. The meat was not simmered in BBQ sauce but came on the bun plain, somewhat dry and tough; you put your sauce on from a bottle at the table. The BBQ sauce itself was OK-- not real good, but not bad. It had a little "zing" to it. The pulled pork was tasteless: definitely sub-par. The brisket was a little better, but not by a whole lot. It was dry and tough. Not a whole lot of taste. All in all, this is not the worst place to eat, but I cannot in all good conscience recommend it to anyone. If you need a BBQ fix, consider Ranchway down the street, Texas Roadhouse, or Bennigans. [17 Apr 2007 19:51:06]

It just depends! We had one bad experience, one very good experience a couple of weeks ago. The brisket sandwich was very tender and plentiful. We used the LC coupon, which does indeed state: "one sandwich free" with the purchase of "one sandwich and two drinks". We did get our sides. We had a very attentive waiter last time. Our first trip, the waitress was horrible, our order took forever and the food was just mediocre. It's a 50/50 shot! [03 Aug 2007 20:50:42]
