In Many Ways Your Typical Hotel Restaurant The Blue Agave is in many ways your typical middle-range hotel restaurant. The place is decently decorated and appeared clean. Seating was fairly comfortable. We were immediately seated by the hostess, but they were not busy this night. The waitress did a good job; she took drink orders promptly and followed up several times. She was efficient and personable. My only complaint with the ambiance/service is that the restaurant is one of the quieter places in Las Cruces and the staff seemed to be having loud and constant conversations regarding all their own "personal" affairs. During the meal it seemed as if you spent half your time listening to the staff's conversations from as far away as twenty or more feet!! They need to correct this. Most meals come with a salad bar. The salad bar is OK...rather typical. The veggies were not always the freshest sort and the choices were somewhat limited. No big complaint here. We ordered the Chicken Elizabeth on a bed of rice and the Prime Rib with a baked potato. The chicken came in a pastry shell and had a nice sauce on it. It was quite good. Rate it a B+. The rice wasn't too bad, but nothing great. The baked potato was mediocre. The Prime Rib was unlike any I have ever eaten. It seemed charred on the outside and tasted closer to your run-of-the-mill mid-range hotel steak. It was edible, but not really very good. The au jus was not very good. The horseradish sauce, or whatever it was, was not good. The price was noticeably cheaper than Prime Rib anywhere else??? This meal was not horrible, but not very good. Rate it a C at best. All-in-all, not a poor dining experience, but not one I care to repeat. If you are trapped in the hotel and can't go anywhere else...or don't want to go out, the Blue Agave is OK. But it is not the kind of restaurant you intentionally seek out. [02 Oct 2007 00:39:29]

Once here is enough! We had the prime rib and salad bar. The salad bar was awful - the hot food was cold and the soup before they reheated or remade it was so salty it was inedible. The prime rib was disappointing as well. Our entire meal from salad bar to the entree was a cool temperature. We heard three other tables complain that night of the same problems we were having.
