Mix Pacific Rim Cafe......WOW!!!!!! Soothing decor, attentive service, fresh, fresh, fresh ingredients. Every meal we have had there was memorable, well prepared, beautifully plated and absolutely delicious. The sushi and sashimi ingredients taste as if they had been swimming only moments before. We eat there every time we go to Las Cruces. [17 Jun 2003 00:11:14]

Mix Pacific Rim Cuisine Bravo! They have taken a piece of Tokyo, a bit of New York, and placed it right here in Las Cruces. When you walk into this resturant you could actually be somewhere else. The food? Fabulous, the best sushi rice I have ever discovered! If you visit Las Cruces, don't forget to visit this local hidden treasure. [04 Sep 2003 01:00:07]

Good...in Las Cruces terms Given lack of quality Oriental food in Las Cruces, The Mix gets high marks. I haven't had the sushi, which everyone raves about, but I've been there for lunch 2-3 times and am not that impressed with the menu selection or the food. I've had the pad thai and the ginger chicken. The chicken was fine, but the pad thai noodles tasted store-bought and flavorless. They graciously grilled our calamari, rather than deep fried, but it did lack something. Would like to see really well executed lo mein dishes, beef & broccoli, and something with plum sauce. Did not enjoy the miso soup on any visit. [31 Jan 2005 23:40:53]

Great sushi in a sea of mexican food For years I have sadly been unaware that there was great sushi in Las Cruces after the closure of Tatsu. Mix aparently belongs to Tatsus brother. I had the sashimi combo (#5) and after watching the people behind the counter and my fellow diners, added on octopus (#11) and another item I only remember as the #55 (delish). As mentioned by others, great quality and super fresh ingrediants made this "the" place I will go for sushi in Las Cruces from now on. Only word of warning: I was advised not to try and get in Mondays as they have sushi specials so all of UNMLC is having dinner here. [26 Jan 2006 22:32:51]

Not Bad, but Not Great! First off... I do not eat sushi. I took a table away from the sushi bar as most other patrons did. The ambiance at Mix is nice but nothing special. The napkins were paper! Patrons were an eclectic mix of students, business types, would-be yuppies, and older retirees. The Hispanic population didn't seem to be eating here. Service from the host was prompt and polite. The waitress was pleasant enough, but a little slow, and perhaps a tad inattentive at times. Service, in other words, was good but not exceptional. I agree with the reviewer who said the menu has its limits; if you want good Chinese go somewhere else. I had the Pad Thai. It came with a small cup of soup which was simply a broth. It was ok... rather mediocre. The main dish was rather large and came with a cup of rice on the side and an egg roll. The egg roll wasn't bad; nothing exceptional. It did not seem to have any strong discernable flavors. As with the main meal the flavor seems to be on the delicate side. The Pad Thai itself was made with very fresh, crispy ingredients (the big plus for the meal)..large and juicy cuts of chicken, small little shrimp, green and red bell peppers, noodles and bean sprouts. It was quite good, but I must say that it did not have much of the usual Thai seasoning...flavors were real subtle...which seems to be the norm at this restaurant. The reviewer above described it as "flavorless." I wouldn't go that far, but I do think the chefs here sacrifice robust flavor for subtlety in their dishes. I enjoyed the meal, but I may go somewhere else for Pad Thai. I have eaten Pad Thai in many good restaurants all over the country and this dish at Mix was not the best by any means. It had a flavor unique to itself...not bad, but not authentically Thai. I will return to the Mix again to try other options, but there are many alternatives in Las Cruces if you want Asian food: Thai, Chinese, or Indian. It might be better to go to a place that specializes in a particular cuisine, eg., Joy Luck, Lemongrass, or Jaan. If one is really in to Sushi, this may be your place in this area. Well, I had an enjoyable meal at the Mix. the food was great and all of the staff were working all together and the sushi was great..... but most of all we need a place like this in town. I will come again and bring my wife and family. [08 Mar 2006 18:37:13]

Mix is the best restaurant in the whole entire world. I love the food and since Tatsu closed down I think this addition to the town is great-- plus they even have a Mix Express. [03 Jan 2007 12:09:08]
