Real Mexican Food You want a place where you can find real mexican food. This is the place. Take a quick stop to try some of there burritos or tacos... you'll love 'em. [09 Nov 2001 16:16:30]

Awful Food This place serves some of the worst Mexican food in New Mexico; at least, this was our experience one evening last (2002) October. My wife had chile rellenos and I had chicken enchiladas. Both dishes were bland, cold and unappetizing; neither of us finished our meal. We are great Mexican food enthusiasts and have eaten our way across the southern US many times, so our review is not without basis. [12 Jan 2003 12:47:12]

Great food! My husband and I love this place and we've lived in Tucson for the last 22 years, where the Mexican food is possiblly better than Ashland, Oregon. [02 Mar 2004 16:21:09]

Tasty! Though I haven't actually been inside this restaurant, a friend of mine recently brought me an enchilada platter. Though it takes nearly an hour to drive from Lordsburg to Silver City, the platter was still delicious on arrival. The chunks of beef were tender and the chopped green chiles were wonderfully spicy-- and they weren't 'green gravy' like some places around here serve. [03 Oct 2005 20:29:20]

Great Traditional Mexican Food The food is good simple Mexican food. It's not served on painted plates by waltzing mariachis as one might find in the the Pacific Northwest, but you won't be dissapointed if you're looking for authentic Mexican food. I've been stopping there for 28 years on the way to the Gila Wilderness. Always great! [12 Feb 2006 08:09:50]

Great green Chile I been eating at El Charro for at least 40 years--I grew up in Ohio and we would stop to eat there on yearly vacation. The table tops are still there-- original art deco things. The food is just OK food, however the Green Chile is supreme, best I ever ate. I have relocated to Arizona and just drove out there to see what was up-- same as always-- great Green Chile. The tacos are also very tasty, as are the beans and rice. [22 Nov 2007 01:06:18]

I know what I'm talkin about Lordsburg may have some problems but El Charro isn't one of them. This may be the best Mexican food I've tasted since I sat at my mother's or grandmother's table. I know Mexican food. I grew up eating it and my father owned a restaurant so I know what goes into this stuff. When I first saw and tasted the green chile enchiladas there I thought I was in 19th century Mexico. Very Good, plus, the beer was really cold.
