Fried The lunch and dinner buffets are plentiful. A friend of mine calls this the 'fried chicken ball place,' because most of the meat dishes are indeed variations on the theme of deep-fat fried chicken, pork, or fish. The dominant seasoning is soy sauce. The lighter flavors for which really good Chinese food is known are not present. The staff are hard-working and usually very quick. [15 Jan 2003 16:47:44]

Is so-so They have good food, but it's like Chinese Food pretty much anywhere else. The service is pretty good, it's a family restaurant. They serve quite a lot of food, but the sushi gets hard, and the fried food can get to be stale; best to come when the food is fresh. The best food they serve is the Sweet And Sour Pork and their Steamed Entrees. They have Egg Drop Soup, and Sweet Red Marinated Ribs, Chicken on Skewer. Basically I've had all these things in restaurants in New York City, and it's comparable. In general with Chinese food, its best to not load up on the fried stuff-- it kicks up stomach acids.
The main thing I don't like about this restaurant is the location: the garage of the old Firestone Tire store, which can be cold in the winter. Also the tables have a texture of baked-on grease; I doubt they use stuff like bleach to disinfect their tables, nor Fantastik-- they are due for a cleaning. Also I doubt they have a air circulation system because their air filters are long overdue to be cleaned. I eat at China Moon when I've been to all the other restaurants, and on a Sunday, there are only three restaurants to choose from: China Moon, Hill Diner and LA Cafe. [10 Sep 2005 07:03:21]

A la carte is better Their buffet is always the same, and very standard fare. Visitors to Los Alamos who are used to good Chinese restaurants, high or low end, will be very disappointed. Consistently, the best dish on the buffet is the green beans with garlic: that dish is really good!
It appears few of their customers ever order from the menu; the menu is significantly different and consistently better than the buffet. Takeout orders are always ready very fast and are freshly cooked and piping hot. [30 Mar 2006 16:48:43]
