Classy The Luna Mansion, just west of the Hwy 314/Hwy6 intersection, has for years been one of the greater Albuquerque area's special places for "special" occasions especially. (Am I being redundant? LOL)
EXCELLENT food, service, and so much atmosphere, even the "Fraiser" brothers would feel at home! Highly recommended! The pleasant drive to get away from the "Big City" is also appreciated coming and going. Unless you use I-25 South...don't!
The desserts are generous and yummy too! [29 Apr 2003 13:32:13]

THE LUNA MANSION HAS TO ON THE TOP OF MY LIST OF FINE DINING EXPERIENCES. THE FOOD WAS GREAT AND THE ATMOSPHERE WAS EVEN BETTER. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. OH I EVEN WAS ABLE TO GET A STARBUCKS COFFEE TO GO. [09 Oct 2003 01:18:05]

Not all that Ever since I moved to Albuquerque in 1978, I had been told by people that I should try the Luna Mansion, as I love to eat out often. After a couple of years of hearing this, I finally did try it with friends. I have to say that this was a true case of the hype being greater than the actuality. The menu choices was fairly limited, priced a bit on the high side but not unreasonably so. The restaurant itself was once a private home -- though not a mansion by any standards, just a normal sized 2-story older home with nothing particularly special about it other than its age in the community. Our group ordered various beef meals, mine was a steak, others had steak tips and other main courses. The value of the meal was poor, as the quantities were pretty small and the price too much for what was provided. The presentation was average, although I could see where they attempted to mimic 'gourmet dining', but failed. My potatoes were dried out as if they had been sitting out, the steak was not prepared well, and getting the attention of the waitstaff was a long process and they made us feel rushed when we had to request something, such as more water or the drinks we had ordered which took forever to arrive. The ambience was okay, though because of the layout and age of the home, it was always loud, and there was no way to have private conversations with your dining mates without every word being overheard and/or commented on by someone across the room, and likewise we were forced to hear all conversations in the restaurant and kitchen no matter how much we tried to block it out. Having to go up some very steep stairs to the second floor to the bar was not only awkward and uncomfortable, but unsafe as well, since after a drink or two, coming down those same narrow stairs in heels was not a pleasant experience.
All in all, the price was too high for what they provided, the food was average at best and poor in some cases, and the experience was more suited to a diner than what is billed as a fine dining experience. I have not returned since, nor do I plan to. A big disappointment all around. [26 Jan 2008 03:18:28]
