Ranks in the Top Ten Mexican in Las Cruces
I have been back to Los Mariachis a couple times recently and it has clearly improved since it opened. The ambiance remains the same...ok, but nothing special: not a place for a special date or to take out-of-town relatives, but comfortable, bright, and clean. Service has improved and is friendly and attentive. The food, however, is the big plus. Chile con carne burritos are very good, especially smothered in chile sauce. Steak Tampiquenia is tasty, if the usual Mexican tuff steak. But the spiciness and the big green chile spread across the top makes it very good. Chips and salsa are very good...better than most. Deshebrada is excellent: something not found in the majority of Mexican restaurants around here. Tortas and sandwiches are delicious. Another big plus is that Los Mariachis has more room than Andele down the road and is not as crowded at peak hours. One does not feel like he is sitting on top of other diners here.    [04 Feb 2008 17:37:42]
