Something special/hidden treasure
A glorious hole-in-the-wall worth going out of your way for. Quite possibly the best commercial green chile cheeseburger there is. They've been around quite a while a stone's throw from the famous Owl Cafe which by comparison is a has-been.
Even if you don't usually consider a burger, make an exception for something common done memorably well.
You wait a bit longer than usual for a burger; that's because they do it right.    [27 Jun 2005 00:08:32]

Friggin' awesome
We were on vacation from So. CA and stopped in at Buckhorn. Bob was excellent and his burger was Absolutely perfect in every way.

I don't know what else to say. I was rendered speechless.

Service was also top notch. Easy access off the freeway, etc. etc.

If you're in the neighborhood, stop in and you can love it too!

The Buckhorn Burger - On another planet
Absoultely the best burger because every part of it is right.

First I asked for a burger to go and the owner (Bob) said we don't do to-go!
Very good advice. This is not a burger you want sitting in a bag nor the fries.
When you bite down into the bun it says from both texture to taste it was designed for this burger. It was light and fresh which prepared you for the move into the most delicious green chile concoction that just prepares you for the cheese, burger, and other condiments including the lettuce and tomato. I order french fries because as a kid growing up in chicago they were a big deal because they were made fresh. The potato bags would be out front of Jimmy's hot dog stand in the morning and he would be cutting fresh potatoes all day. The same fresh taste here.

If you need atmosphere they have it-- people happily eating food. What more do you need when someone invites you over to have a burger! Enjoy and don't bother with to-go food.    [22 Oct 2005 14:47:05]

Manny's is arguably the best burger in the Southwest.    [08 Jun 2006 15:50:17]

The quintessential GCCB
Manny's prides itself on being rated #7 among the top 20 burgers in the country by GQ magazine; I can't imagine what the other six must be like, because Manny's green chile cheeseburger is terrific. It's huge, and has wisely been cut in half, because otherwise it would be pretty hard to lift. The roll is great, the meat has a flavor that manages to come on strong through all the condiments. The onion rings were pretty good, but next time I'll try the fries since everybody reviewing here seems to enjoy them so much.    [28 Oct 2006 17:40:32]

Best Burger I've Ever Eaten
Stopped on my way to Las Cruces. Lots of advertising that it's the 7th best burger joint in the US. I don't know where the other 6 are, but this is the best burger I've eaten. It's coarse ground, big, with cheese, lettuce, tomato and pickles which really work together. Ketchup, Tabasco and Cholula were available, but I didn't feel the need for any of them. Since it's the Buckhorn, the chile cheeseburger is called the Buckhorn Burger. I understand that Manny, a real character passed away a few years ago, but that the Buckhorn is still in the family.    [02 Jun 2007 21:11:32]

This is the real deal!
The Buckhorn is an authentic small town rural American bar and grill with great live local music on the weekends from the highly talented town of San Antonio, NM just off I-25. The Green Chile Cheese Burger is a gustatory masterpiece. Tight hours (11:00 AM till 8:00 PM) but worth the plan to get there. The burger is the top!    [05 Jun 2007 23:34:53]

Manny's is great!
For years friends and coworkers have been saying "You have to eat at Manny's".
It is rated the #7 Burger in America.
The title is well deserved. You have to try the green chile cheeseburger.    [15 Jul 2007 15:55:52]
