Once (a month) is Not Enough You would think that in a town of this size, located in cowboy country, there would be plenty of places to get good barbecue. This is not entirely the case. One option is Brewer Hill, but they serve only on the first Friday of each month.
There are many ways to serve barbecued ribs, so it is probably worth explaining how Brewer Hill does theirs: they use "country style" pork ribs (as opposed to the smaller "baby back" ribs) and the ribs are in a somewhat thin, moderately sweet sauce similar to Carolina-style barbecue (but without the vinegar). Folks who are used to baby back ribs glazed with a thick sauce may or may not like these, but to me 'ribs is ribs' and I'll take what I can get-- and they taste pretty fine.
Their sides are good too: home-made baked beans, slaw, potato salad, and a slice of home-made pie.
Mark your calendar and make the pilgrimage. Note that the proceeds go to the Brewer Hill Baptist Church, so it's a win-win situation, in my opinion. [17 Jun 2004 21:23:37]
