Make Reservations! Diane's is certainly the busiest restaurant in Silver City, and overall it's good. In fact, it was probably the best restaurant we ate in during our short stay. That said, remember this is Silver City, and good restaurants aren't thick on the ground.
For dinner, one of us had the cheese ravioli, which to our tastes had a bit too much garlic. Or maybe, the garlic should have been sauted a little bit longer making it a bit less harsh. The other had the Portabella Mushrooms. These were quite tasty, served over white beans and wilted greens. I'd order these again.
One nice thing, it was quite apparent that each dish was made when it was ordered, nothing sat on steam tables or hit the microwave so the food was fresh.
Our only complaint, is they could stand to have a few more vegetarian dishes. [01 Apr 2003 20:15:45]

Quality Food Diane's is our favorite restaurant in Silver City and we're locals. Everything is well prepared and very tasty. Don't be in a hurry. They tend to stay busy and the speed of their service reflects it. Diane's desserts are prepared in-house and are to die for. [04 Jun 2004 18:23:11]

Best Food in Silver? Maybe so for lunch and dinner, but they can sure ruin a breakfast.
We ordered ham and eggs. I only wish, when I ordered slivered ham at the deli, I could get ham that thin. "Toast"? I'd be surprised if that bread had ever been in a toaster and butter? I did manage to find one spot about 1 1/2" long and about 1" wide that looked like it had been moistened with something.
My eggs over medium were ok, but the scrambled eggs for partner, were plainly yellow and white instead of beaten.
The potatoes are over cooked and mushy and just okay.
Won't be eating breakfast here anymore. [10 Aug 2004 01:27:41]

When they're good, they're very very good If you don't want fast food, Mexican or Chinese, Diane's is Silver's best choice for a healthy/tasty dinner. That being said, I find it highly overrated. Her lunches rate 3rd on my list, and breakfasts are just okay.
For dinner, the ingredients are fresh and meats and seafood quality. The service is usually quite good, although if really busy can be somewhat slow.
As for preparation, it just depends who's cooking and if they're really with it that night. I've had meals send my eyes rolling back in my head with everything prepared to perfection. The same meal weeks later, same cooks, very disappointing. If you're a salad person, the portions are very inconsistent - and usually quite good.
Diane's desserts are definitely the best (restaurant) desserts in town. They're creative and sometimes great, other times not to my taste. I don't see what all the fuss about the chocolate cake is. Looks aren't everything! The carrot and apple spice cakes are often overcooked and dry. I'm not a cheese cake fan, although I do love her blackberry crumble cheesecake pie. [02 Jun 2005 13:18:11]

OK Dianne's is OK. I read another review where the writer says they are "inconsistent". I agree. VERY inconsistent with salad portions and ingredients, same with some of the pasta dishes and sandwiches. DO NOT go there for breakfast. The portions are VERY small, the potatoes are dry and the last 2 times I went there for breakfast my food was not very hot and it was not even very busy.
On the other hand, they are pretty good for lunch. Portions are enough to fill you up and the dishes I usually order are wonderful. [25 Nov 2005 11:12:13]

Good Food, for the most part It is with all home-made food... inconsistent. But, it's to be expected. Diane and her staff are human and sometimes on-point, other times a bit left of center. For the most part, the food is always good, the portions appropriate and with nice presentation. I tend not to eat breakfast there because I usually need to go home and eat something afterward, but lunch and dinner are a nice treat once in a while... only cuz the prices are a bit much for my budget to go very often.
Diane and her staff are always friendly &and courteous and I never mind waiting for food that is hot and freshly made. [10 Jun 2006 11:34:48]

Smells good We went there for lunch, (much cheaper then dinner). The place smelled of baking bread and it seemed to have an OK atmosphere to it. It is a smaller place, so it's best to go when it's not so busy. The wait takes a while, but the food was good. [09 Dec 2006 01:07:04]
