Basic Mexican food, convenient hours
Each Mexican restaurant in town has at least one dish on their menu that I really enjoy. At the Grinder Mill, I am fond of their green chile con carne. Too often in Southern NM, green chile is reduced to a green gravy; however, the GCcC at the Grinder Mill has actual recognizable chunks of green chiles and tender beef in it. Sometimes it's waaaay hot, more often it's spicy enough without making your eyes water and your nose run. A fresh tortilla rounds out this hearty meal.

The fact that the Grinder Mill is open 'til 10:00 PM Sun-Thu and 24 hours on Friday and Saturday endears them to me still more, as the late-night menu choices here in Silver can be limited.    [17 Aug 2004 20:30:42]

Yuck

Yuck is an understatement!
Even after heavy drinking, you can't help but notice how dirty the whole restaurant is. Just walk behind the restaurant any given day (trash & grease). I don't see how the Veterans Center next door puts up with it. The building is not handicap friendly at all. Try to get access in a wheelchair!    [24 Dec 2006 19:18:14]

Blasphemy!!!
The Grinder Mill is by far the best late-night stop in Silver City! Yes the food tastes better after drinking, I'm not going to lie, but it is not as dirty as the "Silver City Residents" claim. I now live in Las Cruces NM and I could only wish that Las Cruces had a Grinder Mill! You can't beat the atmosphere on Friday and Saturday nights! You never know what's going to happen once everyone leaves the bars and heads to The Grinder. Plus you can't beat the green chile cheese fries! God! I miss those!    [30 Aug 2007 17:56:58]

Good Huevos Rancheros...BUT......
Great huevos rancheros, but, they can have counter help that is anti-gringo! We went in one night and were "passed over" when trying to order by the Latino girl at counter, when we complained a Gringa came out to take our order. Tsk..tsk!
After ordering all the people behind us had their orders up before us.
Not what you expect nowadays.
