Help...... neeeeed...... large......... chicken.....combo.......aaaaaahhhhhh
After working 15 hours in the smelter me and my coworkers knew we could fill our devistated hunger with a large chicken combo with chips and salsa. It is the best Mexican food I have ever tasted. Fresh and tasty ingredents from the southwest desert.    [16 Feb 2002 19:54:11]

#1 Mexican Restaurant in Silver City
Jalisco's is the place I always recommend to out-of-towners. Great food and great service. If you haven't tried it, you do not know what you are missing!    [17 Jul 2003 13:51:22]

Fantastic Food!
While traveling through New Mexico, we stumbled upon the Jalisco, and are we glad we did! This was undoubtedly the best Mexican food we've ever had. The enchiladas were outstanding. Wish this restaurant were closer to home!!!!    [31 May 2004 09:45:56]

Nice Atmosphere
Jalisco's is in a restored older building with some of the most interesting ambiance in town. The food is very good and the Sopapillas are an interesting, authentic Mexican dessert.    [04 Jun 2004 17:57:05]

Jalisco Cafe is OK
Tucson's Local couple happened to be back in Silver City over the 4th of July weekened and decided to stop in Jalisco's for dinner.

After being promptly seated, we ordered drinks and started munching on the chips and salsa provided. The chips were light and the salsa had a slight kick to it, and we hoped that this was a good sign for the quality of the dinner to come.

Perusing the menu, one of us decided on the New Mexican cheese enchiladas (with green sauce), the other on the Chile Rellenos (and passed on the offer to have them smothered).

The meals arrived quickly, and were okay, but that's about it. The cheese enchiladas and green sauce really didn't have much flavor, I had to add some salsa in an attempt to improve them. The Relleno was alright, but didn't really standout. It might be that they use Hatch Green chiles and we are used to the places in Tucson that use Poblano chiles. In retrospect, it would have been wise to take up the offer of having them smothered.

Both dishes came with the obligatory sides of refried beans and rice (well, the rice was omitted from the enchiladas; I'm not sure if that was an oversight, or if the enchilada plate omits rice as a side), and here again they were okay, but nothing special.

While there was nothing wrong with any of the dishes, there wasn't anything that would keep us coming back, either. Perhaps, next time were in Silver, we'll stop back to see if it was an off night, after all that happens.    [11 Jul 2004 12:51:51]

New Menu Terrific!
I liked Jalisco's before - have been going there regularly for years and always enjoyed it. The food and service has always up to a high standard, which is something I can't say about many Silver City eating places. Anyway, I love the new menu! There isn't anything I have tried (and believe me I've been trying all the new stuff) that hasn't been wonderful. Congratulations to Mike, the Chief - your training is really paying off! And try the desserts - mmmmm!    [30 Aug 2004 02:41:38]

THE BEST AROUND!!!
IT IS HARD TO BEAT JALISCO'S! We have family in Texas and other parts of the state of NM...who love love love Jalisco's despite the fact they are high priced and often do not provide the best servers in town...we still keep a coming back!! The best consistent Mexican food you could ever ask for! If you are interested in Mexican...this is the place to go in Silver City! Jalisco's is awesome!    [03 Nov 2004 14:07:09]

Silver City's BEST
I have been in and around Silver City since 1984. I have eaten at Jalisco's many, many times and have never been disappointed. This is authentic southwestern New Mexico Mexican food; if you want Texas "chili" or Taco Bell, look somewhere else--this is the real thing. Always excellent, great atmosphere and always done to the highest standards. I now live in Silver City and I'm glad I do because I get to eat frequently at Jalisco!    [03 Jan 2005 18:04:32]

We have eaten at Jalisco's since it was the Turn Around Cafe. It used to be a place a common working man could go for a good meal that wouldn't require taking out a second mortgage. Not any more. Great ambiance, fair food, prices that are through the roof. What happened to real, hot, flavorful green chile? Sold out to tourists.    [18 Feb 2005 12:45:16]

Great atmosphere!
Chips and salsa are the best I've ever tasted. Service is a bit slow and inconsistent. Food is very good, but a bit pricey. Historic area and art on walls make nice atmosphere. Recommend to all guests from out of town/state.    [10 Apr 2005 17:48:40]
