Service has improved... ...and food is usually good. Is it just me or are the portion sizes shrinking? Maybe the new owner will do a little better. Still a fun place for lunch. [12 Oct 2004 19:55:26]

A great little place with heart and character The new owners seem to be carrying on the fine tradition established by Vicki. The food and service were great and the atmosphere charming. [02 Apr 2005 18:39:26]

My Other Favorite Lunch Spot A good place to go if you care about what you put in your body. It's been my favorite spot since it opened, and the new owners seem to love it as much as Vicki did. The food is quite tasty and the service friendly. [30 May 2005 21:52:50]

The hottest cafe in Silver City I've been dining at Vicki's for little over a year. It has much more of a relaxed environment now with the new owners and everyone is so happy there. The food is fabulous-- the soups, the desserts are out of this world, and the specials are... well, you must try them for yourself-- but mark my word, they'll have you coming back for more. Kudos to Chef Gilbert and Miriam. [31 Jul 2005 13:44:33]

Still overall the best in SIlver City Vicki, in my opinion, was the best cook/chef in Silver City and no one comes close to her soups, specials and desserts (including the new cook/chef there). She spent most of her time in the kitchen and the quality of the food she created reflected that.
That being said, the new owners have kept her excellent menu and have done quite a decent job of maintaining it, with just a couple exceptions (German Potato Salad does not seem the same, and the dolmas are always loaded with raw garlic instead of just the hint they used to have).
The new owner seems to keep his focus up front and the atmosphere and feeling of the restaurant reflect his presence in very positive ways. In my opinion, it's been a bit of a trade off. Still my favorite menu in town and it's done well. Soups, specials and baked goods have fallen some, and the mood/atmosphere is brighter.
Overall, still my favorite. [30 Nov 2005 20:19:35]

Big Improvement Vicki's food was always good. Before she left though, the portions were getting so small you had to have lunch after you ate there and the mood was always tense and unhappy.
I miss her breakfasts. They were a big treat on the weekends for me. But the new owners have brought a light-hearted atmosphere that shows in the renewed smiles of the waitstaff and it's passed along to the patrons. The portions are back to normal and the food is still yummy. They made improvements too, on the patio... not so many tree-fliggins falling in the food and there's more seating.
I like Vicki. She's a great lady. I hope she's happier now cuz she just wasn't anymore at the restaurant and it showed. [10 Jun 2006 13:26:48]

Great food, waitress not very friendly. We think the food is great. The only problem we have had with Vicki's is one of the waitresses. She is just not very friendly at all. The other wait staff seems to be fine. Unfortunately, almost every time we have been there she is our server. Besides that, we really love to eat there. [07 Jan 2007 00:34:23]
