Description

Located at the foot of Mount Cristo Rey, Ardovino's Desert Crossing has decorative garden patios (open from spring through fall) and the Mecca Lounge, a throw-back to the lounges of the 1950's. One of the main attractions is the mosaic glass decorating the wood-fired oven.

The food is Italian/Continental with specialty dishes including steak and the calamari fritti. Large groups (6 or more) should request reservations.

Live music is featured Thursday through Saturday nights.

On-site banquet facilities are also available. Annual Farmers' Market held May through October on Saturday mornings from 7:30am to 12:00pm with a Continental breakfast served from the "CoffeeStream" trailer.

Jewel in the Desert
Different, Delicious and delightful, This jewel in the desert will become one of your favorite restaurants. Located at the base of Mt. Cristo Rey and next to the railroad tracks, this unique garden spot blooms in the desert during spring and summer, and the lounge with its central fireplace is a cozy hangout for cold winter nights. The occasional train rumbles past bringing back memories of bygone days when the restaurant was touted in travel magazines. It still retains much of its aura and mystique.    [13 Feb 2004 13:09:05]

Horrible
My partner and I attended a wedding and reception. The food was cold, greasy, and tasteless.    [18 Oct 2004 17:29:31]

Glitz Without the Glitter
Our party of seven found the place overpriced, stuffy, and tasteless. Our table was a lake by the time our drinks were finished...try some drink napkins! Music was good, appetizers intriguing but lacked substance, entrees were cold, the patio was a nice escape for a smoke and then adios. I don't think we'll be back.    [15 Jun 2005 14:46:38]

The Coolest Place in Town
The food is consistently great and what an atmosphere! Sitting right on the border of Mexico but out in the desert, Ardovino's still feels like the speakeasy it once was. The Saturday farmer's market is building an outlet for local produce that hasn't existed in El Paso before.    [15 Jul 2005 23:15:49]

Wow
My family and I really loved their food and ambiance. We felt we were on vacation to the past, I highly recommend it!    [23 Jan 2006 23:55:06]

It's a shame
The ambience and atmosphere were so fabulous with the perfect patio and guitar music, then the freight train rounding the mountain topped off the perfect setting. But the service was horrible, I had my "not even average tasting" entree half eaten before my first glass of wine was served.    [10 Jun 2006 18:52:28]

Not a Jewel
Food came out late and cold. The service? Nonexistent! Lots of pomp but fell short of expectations. Very disappointing. I'll refer to a simple pizzeria next time.    [24 Aug 2006 23:24:07]

Ouch!
Watch out! This place will take your money if you're not careful. Grossly overpriced with horrible, and I mean horrible, service.    [04 Jan 2007 19:53:28]
