Restaurant Management 101 needed...
Good concept, poor follow through. Better management would result in a more professional and attentive staff. No reservation policy a definite turn off, especially since they strive to be kid friendly. Need professional operators to take over. Too pricey for what you get as well.    [25 Dec 2001 21:43:18]

Best place within 30 miles for kids
When the last reviewer went the restaurant was only two months old, Give them a break!! The place is packed seven days a week and they are the only restaurant around that invites you to bring your kids. All the Kids meals are served in a cardboard take home car, there is a video room and crayons are available. We go every week. Love it!!
The Adult Food is also Great!    [13 Mar 2002 16:25:08]

Great Restaurant! Great Service! Nice atmosphere!!! A + +
My boyfriend and I live in Greenwich. It's nice to get out of Greenwich sometimes. I enjoy going to Route 22 Restaurant very much. The atmosphere is nice, food is delicious, friendly service too! I highly recommend it. If your looking for a nice place to relax and enjoy your meal this is the place! Very good selection of wines too! Check it out...you won't be disappointed!    [03 Oct 2002 11:31:55]

If you're looking for $7 peanut butter sandwich kids meals you've found the place!
The parking lot was full but after coming here I'm baffled as to why. The food for the adults was fine, but pricey. The food for the kids was essentially the same that they get at other places for 1/2 the price.

To make matters worse, they sat us in a booth with a duct taped seat that was next to a bunch of video games and the rest rooms. So, we basically listened to a loud bunch of kids and adults scream at each other while they faced off playing "Crazy Taxi" and bumped their arms against our booth. I've had a quieter seat at Applebees.

The place is popular with families and unfortunately when we were there, the bathrooms showed it. That's all I'll say about that topic.

I had the shrimp & scallop scampi which was actually very good. My husband had the ribs and liked it but there was way too much food for him to finish. The kids had overpriced chicken tenders which they enjoyed. And yes, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich kids meal will run you $7.00.

If it were just my husband and I looking for a nice place to eat, I might have chosen this place for the food because the grownup food was good. But then the atmosphere - very loud, lots of poorly supervised kids running into waiters on their way to video games - wouldn't exactly cut it for a night out without the kids.

As a family place, it doesn't cut it because $7 for a PBJ is ridiculous.

So, I don't get it. It's too expensive for a family place and too noisy to be a nice couples place. Maybe if they'd just make up their minds, they'd get us back as customers. I'll rate it "decent" because we enjoyed the food. But we probably wouldn't go back there again.

We live in Greenwich and have been looking for a GOOD restaurant to eat at for quite some time. We enjoy Rte 22 and have been coming back at least once or twice a month since discovering it. The food is great, and the diningroom is fun and the kids enjoy it as well. This is our new favorite restaurant.    [22 Jul 2003 17:11:15]

Love The Place
Although the parking lot is often full, it is long worth the wait. I love this place, the servers there are so nice, fast, and pretty funny. The food was good, and everything was clean. It was noisy at times, but the food made up for that    [07 Jul 2004 20:00:56]

EXCELLENT FOOD, NOT A LONG WAIT
I recently visited on a busy Saturday evening. I and my family sat at the rail in front of the kitchen. And might I say I enjoyed sight. The grill person seemed to acknowledge our presence and got our order to us quickly. The NY strip was cooked to perfection and the burger was nice and juicy. If I could I would personally thank that grill cook for a most memorable meal.    [31 Aug 2004 21:51:06]

Surprise!
We actually stopped in because we were starving after driving for 3 hours from Saratoga. Needed sustenence for me, the wife & 2 kids (ages 3 & 1). Guess what? We'll be back. Anyone remember what The Ground Round used to be like in its prime? Place an automotive aura in that kid-friendly environment & you've got this joint. The ribs were dynamite, all the video games worked (no stuck quarters!) & there's a 1932 Ford hanging in the dining room. How cool!    [23 Apr 2006 18:45:19]

get it to go
Yes it's pricey. Yes it's noisy since it caters to families. All that said I would still go there because the food is pretty good, and it suits my family's needs. the reason why I would not go there is the staff. There is no management precence. The wait for the table is due to lack of mangement. The wait for a menu is due to lack of mangement. The wait for the drinks, food is beyond frustrating, when you are sitting with a hungry family watching the staff talk about what they are going to do later, if you can even find them . get it to go.    [08 Jul 2006 21:50:47]
