The finest
We arrived at the reservation time and were seated immediately. (I appreciated that we did not have to wait.)

The staff was very friendly and not pushy. We were not rushed through the meal. Since we wanted to try many dishes, the Executive Chef, Joe Ciminera, suggested a 6 course tasting. We left it to his discretion. It was OUTSTANDING. The selections were seasoned perfectly.
I strongly suggest that this is a great way to get an "flavor" of many dishes.

The dining room staff was great. They were polite, courteous, and they did not rush you through the meal.

We had a table by the window overlooking the beach. It was magnificient watching the sunset.

I definitely will go back many times.    [03 Aug 2003 08:48:12]

A guest chef series
My husband and I dined at the Pine Island Grill for the very first time on Friday while the restaurant was offering a tasting menu. We have been reading a lot of information on a new celebrity chef Joe Ciminera that has taken over the reins. We dine out at some of the best restaurants in New York City. The meal was amazing- The chef has some real talent. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Keep in mind you will spend $$ but it's worth every penny.    [27 Oct 2003 09:17:52]

A Celebrity Chef at Work!
I have been following chef Joe for years, I am a real foodie and I know a thing or two about food. I was really impressed at the Guest Chef Series with Chef Joe and Anthony Cinicola from Le Cirque. The Duo Team cooked the best meal I have ever tasted. My wife and I even compared it to some of the great restaurants in France.    [30 Nov 2003 18:33:13]

The Italian Wonton
I dined at the Pine Island Grill with my girlfriend on Sunday. I had the Italian Wonton I figured if it's Howard Stern's favorite Dish, I should try it (so I did)I was quite pleased with the dish that I asked for another as a doggy bag. The restuarant has come along way since the new chef Joe Ciminerra has taken over the kitchen.    [02 Dec 2003 01:04:56]

Too good to be true
I dined at the Pine Island Grill last Weds because I heard Chef Joe Ciminera was the new executive chef. Boy, I'm glad I went, I was not disapointed. I asked the waitress if the chef would do a tasting menu. He agreed and send out "The Little red riding hood salad". The name was a little out there but the salad arrived with a scrumptious duck pate on it. I could write about the meal all night. The hostess was very pleasant and made you feel very comfortable when you walked in. For a wonderful view before the meal go upstairs at the piano bar.    [04 Dec 2003 20:24:03]

Chef Joseph Ciminera is Indeed a Great Chef
What was the hype about this Chef? I had to find out. I am a food writer for a Boston magazine. I took the trip to New York and experience a very satifying meal. I happen to be a fan of the chef's cooking show called "Taste This". I asked to see him and he came out and bought us a dinner drink. The food was fabulous.    [26 Nov 2004 19:50:44]

Taste Sensation Up the Wazoo.
Wow! Talk about flavor in the month - Februlicious! When I heard the news in the yard about Joe C setting up shop at Pine Valley Grill - I decided it was worth the wait and grabbed a date, my wife, for an evening of fine fun and food. Joe even made an appearance and suggested his Special Taste Extra Value Menu - then complimented my date nicely and later even personally handed us the bill. Beware, it's a wee pricey but amazingly worth it, even if it's just once a year and the kids have to sweat it out at aunt Bea's for a while. Definitely worth the money and the decor is irresistibly charming.    [16 Jan 2005 22:56:24]

Chef Joseph Ciminera has left the Pine Island Grill
Boy, we noticed that chef Joseph Ciinera left two weeks ago! My wife an I were looking forward to our meal at the Pine Island Grill which was chef Joe's playground. As soon as we recieved our appetizers we knew something was wrong. When I asked the waitress if Chef Joe was still there she told me he had left two months ago. It was quite disturbing because the restaurant never posted any info of him leaving, he was on the web site etc. Well, I guess these great chefs are always on the move.    [30 Sep 2005 21:14:34]

Worst Service on Long Island Every Time
Worst service on Long island. If you want to sit upstairs and have a drink be prepared to wait a very very long time. This was not the first time there and it is generally the same every time. Can't find your waiter, get get anyone's attentions. It's such a shame because the views and foods are very good. Too bad million dollar view with one dollar service.    [07 Sep 2006 19:42:59]

Worst Service Imaginable.
Been to the Pine Island Grille before. I don't know what has happened. Got seated and ordered appetizers and the wine which came in a reasonable
about of time. Ordered salad and entrees thereafter and proceeded to wait for an hour for the salad. When we enquired the server told us that our ticket was lost. Before the salad showed up the server seemed to taunt us by walking it around
the whole room before delivering it to our table. Other diners whom arrived after us were getting more timely service. At that time he told us that one of the entrees is no longer available and that after reordering our main courses would take an
additional 18 minutes. Previously he had complained to us about the recent hires, "college kids" that did not know what they were doing in the upstairs outdoor dinning room. He offered us after dinner drinks as compensation and we asked for another bottle of wine gratis and got an ambiguous response. Another waiter came to our table surprised that out menus were still on it. He told us he was the accountant and that the service here was notoriously bad.
The overpriced food is not that good and the horrible experience killed any enjoyment offered by the waterfront view.    [10 May 2007 20:12:57]
