Service Is Terrible
I used to go to Frankie and Johnnie's Pine Tavern a lot. Overall, the food is okay. Not the best food for Italian, but the dishes are huge and outrageous. There absolutely no way you will finish your plate. So you're better off sharing.

But the service is awful. You wait over 1/2 hour for your food. Most of the time it arrives cold, and get this: They don't accept credit cards. Only form of payment is cash. Come on! Do you think the baseball players carry around cash?!

If you have to choose, don't go there for dinner, especially on a week-end. But, for lunch it's okay; better service. At lunchtime the food actually gets to you hot instead of ice cold and you don't have to wait around for them to heat it up.    [01 Mar 2002 12:05:06]

Food and Service Were Great
I went on Sunday afternoon, and had a great dining experience! The restaurant was very crowded, but the waiter was efficient and friendly. Portions were huge, food was hot and very tasty.    [13 Mar 2002 10:55:12]

The Pine is an excellent place for Italian, steaks and seafood. Large portions and great value. Good service and a great atmosphere. Many pro ball players dine at the Pine. Frankie and Johnnie's Pine Tavern is one of my favorites.    [14 Mar 2002 22:30:08]

Love It
One of my favorite places to eat. Yes, it gets crowded, so don't go if you're looking for a quiet, romantic evening. But for good food in a family-style environment, it's perfect!    [06 May 2002 15:08:02]

Crowded, but Worth It
While I have never had terrible service, or cold food at Frankie and Johnnie's, it can be a bit taxing waiting for your table - even with a reservation. But once you're in, it is well worth the wait! Tremendous portions of delectable dishes await - and the service is quite good, considering how busy it gets.

I visit at least twice a month.    [31 May 2002 17:36:08]

Pine Too aka Frankie & Johnnie's Pine Tavern
Pine Too just as good as Frankie & Johnnie's. The service and food was wonderful. Honestly, have not been to Frankie & Johnnie's lately but I do remember how delicious everything is at Pine Tavern. My husband and I went only for a quick meal. We only had a sandwich and salad. Everything was awesome with enough leftover to bring home. Service and atmosphere just as delightful as the original Frankie & Johnnie's. The only thing that the size of the restaurant is not large, but I have to agree very romantic with outside space for dining under the stars.

Definitely, will go back in the near future.    [17 Jul 2002 10:22:17]

Frankie and Johnnie's Pine Tavern - The Best
I have been to Frankie & Johnnie's on many occasions and I must say I love the ambiance, service, food and courteousness. They make sure you don't leave hungry and the drinks they whip up are amazing. I will be there on 11/2/02 celebrating another birthday.    [28 Oct 2002 11:09:43]

Awesome Restaurant
I've dined at all three restaurants: the two in the Bronx and the one in New Rochelle. I can't even start to explain how good the food and service was; it blew me away. The seafood dishes were so fresh that it jumped right off my plate. The chicken parm was better than my mother's, and those are hard shoes to fill. I won't eat anywhere else. Thanks for a great experience.    [08 Nov 2002 16:27:56]

Fantastic
The food always arrives hot, there's no way you can finish the entire plate...take home the left-overs, they are great the next day too. It gets crowded, but it's worth the wait!    [04 Dec 2002 09:36:18]

Don't Miss Out
What ever you do, don't miss out on the chance to eat here. Food was the best I've eaten anywhere. And you'll never ever leave there hungry. Service was as good as anywhere. If you finish the Zuppa di Pesce, your a bigger man than anyone I know.    [04 Dec 2002 15:43:24]
