not ready, despite very good cooking Here is the good news. We found the plain setting comfortable, the help good natured, and the central items of the main dishes exceptionally well prepared.
Here is the bad news. We ordered appetizers. One of the two dishes brought from the kitchen was not what was ordered. We ordered main dishes. One of the two dishes brought from the kitchen was not what was ordered. On the other main dish, the scalloped potatoes were cold. This is just a question of kitchen routine. There were no green salads on the menu, and the main dishes came out without vegetables, salads or anything else. A main course of lobster and pasta looked like my dog's breakfast: plopped down in a cereal bowl which was put on the table without so much as an underliner. There were four items on the desert list. At 6:30 PM, we were told that only two were available.
So why bother telling all this? Because it is a damned shame. They seem to be talented young people, but they need training and support. I hope that this review will persuade them to look for help, above all because they have the innermost secrets in hand: a cook who can make a brilliant lobster bisque, a buyer who can find outstanding oysters in the market, a bunch of pretty good ideas. There is no reason at all for the place to be impossible. Right now, alas, it is. [16 Feb 2004 20:07:39]
