When I want sushi I usually go to Kuni's. It's right on the Elmwood strip and easy to get to. It's small, so either make reservations ahead of time or anticipate a wait. It's very popular. They will give you take out. [14 Nov 2000 13:27:06]

Kunis Holds its own with the best of them. It's not much to look at, and it's certainly not comfortable to sit in, but always crowded with fans that force a wait of at least forty minutes if you arrive after 6pm. No matter, it's worth the wait.
After several trips to NYC and California, I can say with confidence that Kunis does a remarkable job, and deserves enormous praise for providing food that is every bit as fresh and delicate as the best restaurants in major metropolitan areas. In NYC only Blue Ribbon on Sullivan and Kuruma Zushi are more pleasing (for their food). In California, we like Sushi Ron in Sausalito and Sushi Roku in Sana Monica. But all in all, Kunis hold's its own with an amazing number of restaurants in the larger metro areas including NYC, LA and Boston. Either he owns his own plane and flies it all in himself, or he's got the supplier that supplies that best places in the City. Remarkable for such a hole in the wall establishment in Buffalo, NY. Has patrons saying "There is a God!" [07 May 2003 18:04:41]

Best Sushi Around It is absolutely the best sushi bar in the city that I have ever been too. The service could be a little better, but the food is excellent, Kuni definitely puts a lot of effort into each roll he makes. You just feel comfortable, no one pushing you to get out, but just a peaceful atmosphere. I recommend anyone who loves sushi go here, you will be completely satisfied [28 Aug 2003 12:42:39]

Raw Deal I recently went to Kuni's and placed my name on a waiting list. I was told that it would be an hour and a half wait. We were told that they would call our cell phone when they could fit us in. No Problem, we had some shopping to do. I checked back after 2 hours and was told it would be another 30 min. We sat outside and watched customers arrive and be seated. After 30 min past I checked again and was told that they just did not know when we could be seated. I feel that if they cannot be truthful with their wait policy then they should not have one. I will eat raw fish from Lake Erie before I ever go to Kuni's again [13 Dec 2004 13:48:18]

Fabulous Sushi We enjoy sushi about 1-2 nights a week. Kuni's sushi stands with the best in the country. We hit a sushi bar in most cities we travel to and Kuni’s is right up there. The fish is so fresh and the presentation is always clean and uncomplicated. Kuni always says hello and goodbye to his customers and loves a good joke. We will be back 100 times- despite the rude and snobbish wait staff! Great Job Kuni!! [06 Jan 2005 15:21:26]
