Play on Words In the "short time" this establishment has been open under the new regime, I have been able to visit several times - almost weekly since I made the discovery. The restaurant features a nautical theme throughout and I learned the name of the restaurant refers to the owner’s eagerness to return home as he neared the end of his stint in the U.S. Navy, not his intentions regarding the restaurant.
The owner, Mike, and the staff have always been helpful and friendly, but then, that isn’t uncommon in a small-town setting such as this. In my visits I’ve sampled the rib eye steak wrap (admittedly excellent), the Monte Cristo sandwich, a variety of baked goods (many of which actually did make it all the way home with me!), and various soups and sides – all of which were very good and reasonably priced. I’ve also had a pizza sub that was okay, but the experience left me wondering why I didn’t just buy pizza instead!
I still hope to try the breakfast pizza, which they stop serving at 11 o’clock – which I feel is reasonable considering they start serving breakfast selections at 6:30 am – but the minor inconvenience only motivates me to get there before lunch one of these days.
Overall, this is a very good place to stop for a quick and affordable meal. The food quality is very good to excellent and you can pick up freshly-baked bread or goodies to take home while you are there. [23 Nov 2006 05:09:00]
