Great South Chinese Food in Ithaca South Chinese seafood dishes from Canton and Hong Kong are the best bets. [03 Dec 1999 15:53:03]

Soft Spot for Hai Hong Far and away the best Asian restaurant in Ithaca. You can't beat the brunch, attractively priced and plentiful. Hai Hong's chefs understand how to manipulate subtle flavors and textures. The staples like egg rolls and dumplings are not frozen, but made fresh. The service is outstanding -- Hai Hong employs caring, hard-working staff. Ok, here's another thing I love about HH...I asked the owner recently what Hai Hong means, and she held up a picture of a shrimp boat looking ship. It turns out that Hai Hong was the name of the ship that carried 1800+ people out of Vietnam in search of freedom in the US. She had tears in her eyes as she told me about it in halting English.
Go to Hai Hong for the food, the atmosphere (even Chinese karoke on weekends -- very surreal), and the people. [26 Apr 2001 22:30:09]

Authentic, Fresh, and very well done With both classic "Chinese food" dishes appealing to the Americanized palate and authentic dishes from mainland China, Hai Hong serves in style. The staff and owners are dedicated to providing excellent food and excellent service to every customer. Weekend DimSum brings in a crowd of regulars, and while the menu is limited to 30 or 40 items, the quality is superior to many larger DimSum houses in Boston and Denver. Also try the family's other restaurant endeavor in College Town, "Vietnam Resturant" with noodle bowls to warm the coldest Ithaca day. (On Dryden Road) [01 Jan 2006 11:08:51]
