Not The Best We Ever Had. Terrible service. The pastrami was all right, the potato pancakes were small, hard, greasy. The pickle bowl included two half eaten pickles. I guess they put cole slaw and pickles back in circulation. [24 Jul 2002 17:56:09]

Arties Is Just Fine. Artie's is a good, solid NY Deli good for sandwiches and soup. The free pickles and cole slaw appetizers are just fine. The salads could be better. The service is NY. Matter of fact and not over the top. Go there for food for the soul. [24 Nov 2002 19:56:56]

One of the Best Delis in NYC I have read another review on this site that wasn't as flattering, but I can say from having eating there dozens of times that Artie's is one of the best delis in NYC. The counter staff are among the friendliest in the City. They never skimp on the sandwiches and the portions are very large. I know that most people have heard of Katz's and 2nd Avenune, but Artie's is right up there with them!!! [17 Jul 2003 11:05:04]

Corned beef and laktes Huge portions. The potato latkes vary (depends on the oil and how long they fry, I'm guessing) but they satisfy. And I find the pastrami to be not quite as good as the corned beef which is juicier and tastier. [08 Mar 2004 14:09:27]

If you want the genuine 24 hour taste that belongs on rye bread, go to Katz's. My real beef with this place is not corned. Bought my father a $30 gift credit card for his birthday and when he went to pay for lunch they claimed it was blank. Even wrote the president of Alacarte Group (Carmine's Docks, Gabriela's) Alice Cutler. No response. When pocketing $30 is worth losing a customer, what does it mean about the quality of the food? Zabar's is two blocks away, try their lunch counter. [03 Dec 2006 21:06:37]
