Clean Tasty Comfort Food. More specifically than vegetarian - the restaurant is all dairy. I don't know if it's kosher but it is the complement to "all meat" restaurants like 2nd Ave Deli - in keeping kosher (a way of eating under Jewish "laws") - milk and meat cannt be eaten simultaneously - thus the two different restaurants - one seemingly vegetarian or only dairy. On the culinary side, their cheese BLINTZES are OUT OF THIS WORLD. A bit too much dill in other items - soup, egg salad sandwich - but the BUTTERED CHALLAD BREAD really is "like BUTTAH".
Go, try some items out on the menu - there may be some you won't order again but there will be others that you will call favorites and will always go back for time and time again. [11 Aug 2003 22:18:37]

Great I have been this little hole in the wall dairy restaurant many times over the years. The food is and always has been great. Whenever I am in the area I always stop in for the best cheese blintzes I have ever had along with a bowl of Split pea soup and challah bread. [18 Aug 2003 17:40:36]

Light or Heavy...It's Your Pick I love this little "hole in the wall" restaurant because the food is tasty and since it's in the East Village, there is always a steady stream of interesting people flowing through. My favorite is the Pea Soup with Challah toast. The other sandwiches look good. The cheese blitzes are quite tasty...the cheese is sweet and creamy. Missing the confectioner sugar decoration though. But that adds charm because it's a "no frills" kinda place. Texture of potato pancakes is crispy, just how I like them.
They offer many specials for and prices are very reasonable.
Sometimes I just stop by for a light lunch --bowl of soup. Other times, I take a friend along and we share entrees so we have a little tasting feast. Enjoy!
PS I don't care for Borscht....but I see many people ordering it so it must be good. [16 Apr 2004 12:12:25]
