Overpriced, Small Portions I was very disappointed this evening when my boyfriend and I went to Barolo to celebrate our anniversary. To start things off, I had called the other day to make reservations and I left a detailed message with my phone number. I did not hear back from them so I made another call and spoke to someone who took my information. I arrived today and they said that I was not on their list. Despite this, it turned out ok because there were tables available. As for dinner, I ordered the mozzerella w/ tomato and basil for an appetizer. For $15 I received 4 slices of tomato, a few leaves of basil and a small ball of mozzerella cut into 4 pieces. For dinner I ordered the Risotto al Barolo con L'uva which was a small plate of rice w/ wine sauce for about $18. It was decent, but nothing to brag over. My boyfriend ordered the Sliced sirloin steak with rosemary and arugola and potato strings which turned out to be a rather small piece of UNSLICED meat w/ a small scoop of spinach and ONE small shaving of a potato. He did not care for it. This entree was supposed to be $26 but we later relized that they had charged us $29. Despite these prices, the menu states that there is a $25 food minimum for each person and a $3 charge for anyone sharing portions. As for the staff, they were polite I suppose, but not impressive and definitely not very professional. Several young ladies w/ spaghetti strap shirts and multiple tattoos showing. The garden where we ate was not what I expected. The seats were uncomfortable after 10 minutes and the dinner plates did not match. I will NOT return to Barolo and I do not recommend to others.
