Best Cafe Ever The best Cafe on the West side. It is also the oldest, and all the decorations inside presented that very well. I especially loved the beatles pictures and records. A definate must try! [20 Jun 2003 02:14:23]

Lennon Landmark Being that I am a huge John Lennon fan, I specifically was first attracted to this restaurant when I heard he frequented it often, since he lived around the corner at the Dakota apartments. Well not only was the John memorabilia remarkable (including a couple of autographed photos!), but the food was EXCELLENT! If you also are a Lennon/Beatles fan, try to either sit in the corner with all the mirrors (you can't miss it, it's the first booth to the left when you walk in), or if it's a nice day, the patio garden in the back. He would sit in both of these locations with Yoko all the time. -Lauren, NY resident P.S. The opera soundtrack that swirls through the room adds an interesting atmosphere as well, a fusion of John's rock legacy with classical European. [23 Jun 2003 12:29:36]

Needs Some Help I have always loved this place ... for its charm, its photos of opera singers, the John Lennon connection ...
But it needs some loving attention. On a recent visit, the french bread pizza, admittedly, was OK (one of my favorites); the latte was excellent; and the black and white mousse cake was nice. However, the salad greens were wilted, and the "vinaigrette" was a sweet brown, stale-tasting syrup. When my friend and I complained, the waitress couldn't have been less responsive.
She finally took the two, barely touched salads off the bill, and gave it to us. When we went to pay, one salad had reappeared on the check, and we were told that the manager had restored the charge, and there was nothing we could do about it.
Service, by the way, is a chronic problem at this place ... In my more generous moments, I call it relaxed. But it can really be downright neglectful. We had to chase the waitress down in order to request dessert, e.g. [27 Aug 2003 14:00:15]
