FYI At first I was hesitant to visit a restaurant located on 137th and Broadway. I asked myself, how can it possibly be any good. "Outstanding" was the phrase I used when I walked out of Cafe Largo the first time. I have never been in a place where my glass was always full of water. I don't know if it's me, but I thought that was cool. The waitresses were great. They were friendly and hospitable. I became a regular. Since then the staff has changed, which is to be expected from time to time. BUT the service must remain the same. On my latest trips over to the restaurant, I have had to ask for water several times. They are not as friendly as Ilene and Louisa (I believe those were their names). But regardless of who may be serving, the point is that the menu has to continually be complemented by the service. It's a great place, be mindful of the little details and they'll continue to prosper. Good luck to them in the future and I hope that my review is taken into consideration. [13 Apr 2002 22:46:58]

Una Delicia! My boyfriend and I love the place! Great location and what better than to contribute some business in my own neighborhood. The service is great and the food "una delicia." Zabrina is the nicest- it was great walking in and seeing a smile. The FLAN is a must have. After a full course meal Carlos and I were stuffed. When Zabrina insisted we taste the FLAN-ummmm... We ended up ordering another! Thanks [17 May 2002 16:34:53]

Wonderful! I HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet romantic evening with that special someone. The location put me off a little at first, but this is honestly one of the best restaurants I've been to. The food is amazing, the ambiance is wonderful, and the service is above average. Anything from chicken to shrimp is served exceptionally well, but leave room for the flan, it's to die for! [17 Jun 2002 15:19:55]

Attention! Attention! My wife and I have lived in the Cafe Largo area for quite a few years. We always suffered at the hands of mediocre restaurants in the area until Cafe Largo. We have not had a chance to experience dining at the restaurant but we have been strongly recomended to. We took a chance and ordered a delivery one night and have not stopped ordering ever since. We both agree that the food is excellent and reasonably priced. Also the portions are a breath of fresh air. Thank god for a delicious order in meal while being surrounded by half measure restaurants. Thank you Cafe Largo [26 Sep 2002 17:48:26]

Great! Upon entering Cafe Largo, I immediately felt comfortable and at home. The dim lights and the amazing decor gave the entire place a cozy atmosphere. The hostess took myself and a few of my friends to our table and the waitress followed behind. Okay, so far they get a B+. The water was poured, our menus were handed to us and our drink order was taken, all the while she, the waitress smiled and made us feel very comfortable. I ordered an Apple Martini as usual and I couldn't wait to critique it. HMMM, I was happy. Now it's time to order the food. I ordered the steak, sauteed broccoli and salad. Everyone else ordered, the rice and chicken, chicken fingers, and a bunch of other stuff. All I can say is the food was great. Perfect size, just the right amount of seasoning and taste and by the time I finished, I was hanging over my chair. Yes, I ate everything on my plate and that is pretty rare.
I have been back to Cafe Largo several times since then and have introduced Cafe Largo to family members. Oh, here's a plus, I was so delighted to find out that Cafe Largo delivers. I just had great food and I can order in if I am in one of my lazy moods. Cafe Largo just went from a B+ to an A++. I highly recommend Cafe Largo for family gathering, first dates, second dates, third date...you get the picture or a place for you and your friends to have a great night out. [27 Dec 2002 18:55:35]

Good Food, Bad Service Made reservations but still had to wait. Staff was disorganized. Food was great but one does not complement the other. They need customer service training. [15 Feb 2003 10:22:58]

The Best of Hamilton Heights My boyfriend and I go to Cafe Largo at least 3 times a month, and if we don't go, we order in. It is the best restaurant in all of Uptown. The restaurant is very romantic, and it was so packed on Valentine's day that we actually had to wait a while, eventhough we made reservations. But to make up for it, they gave us free dessert. And yes, the coconut flan is wonderful. [14 Apr 2003 16:54:15]

Cafe Largo is Returning! Hey folks. You have no doubt noticed that Cafe Largo had closed for some time for renovations. They are expanding the seating, renovating the decor, and also adding two businesses next door. One will be a bakery and another will be a Mexican-take-out joint. I live not even two blocks away from the place. I've peeked in many times to check out the progress. I also asked the owner for a probable opening date to which he responded "hopefully by the end of January '07". As you can tell by the majority reviews, this place is definitely worth the patronage. I personally need a place like this where I can chill out on Fridays without having to make a trek outside my neighborhood. [29 Dec 2006 11:42:16]
