Capsouto is one of the best restaurants not only in Tribeca, but in all of NYC! I have dined at Capsouto at over 5 times, and I am always happy with the superb quality of the friendly servicem, the fine selection of reasonably prioced wines, the extraordinary deliciousness of the food and the fabulous space of the restaurant. I particularly enjoy the Confit of Duck Salad, the Steak Frites, and all the soulfe! [24 Nov 2003 09:37:10]

Buyer Beware Our group was seriously misled, resulting in a bill that was hundreds of dollars more than expected. The two managers were incredible arrogant and dishonest in handling the situation…
The website (http://www.capsoutofreres.com/dinner.html) offers a $35 fixed price menu.
Our group spoke with the restaurant in advance to confirm the fixed price menu, since we were interested in spending more on wine then food. At the restaurant, we were offered menus very similar to the one on the web site and told by at least one waiter that this was the prix-fixe. The menu had no prices and was arranged in identical format to the one on the site (with choices for each course).
When our bill came we found instead that we had been charged full a per dish rate and the per person food bill was double. The group organizer brought this to management’s attention and they were most unhelpful.
We were told that some of the items offered on our menu were not included as part of the fixed price and therefore they couldn’t offer the fixed price rate. After 30 minutes of number crunching the management offered to provide us the food portion at an increased rate of $45/head. The group waited for over an hour to get our revised bills and coffee that never came. When our credit card slips did return they had added back 90% of the costs they told us they were discounting.
We paid and got out.
Based on our average hourly wage rate, the time spent trying to get this resolved fair outweighed any cost saving we might have received. The issue was not the $$$ but the fact that we were misled and then treated as if we were buying a used-car. Buyer Beware. [01 Nov 2006 00:17:27]
