Overrated Quite simply, John's is overrated, at least from the one time I ate there. Their nearly-burnt crust is good, but the sauce, cheese, and toppings are mediocre. There's better pizza in New York. The atmosphere is very hectic and crowded, which can be fun, but isn't much to crow about. [06 Dec 1999 21:27:47]

John's Pizza If you want something different than chewy cheesy pizza for a change than John's is the place to go. It's thin and deliciously crispy. I have never had a slice I didn't like. John's only uses fresh vegatables and they have a coal fired oven. Their other dishes are very good too; the ravioli is my favorite. Their motto is they don't sell slices so you do have to buy the whole pie, bring your appetite or your friends. Atmosphere is very pizza parlor-esque with booths, not fancy but quite enjoyable. The Best Pizza in NY My out-of-town family and friends rave about John's Pizza in the West Village. For a casual, inexpensive, and cozy place to eat delicious pizza, John's is the place to go. Excellent experience overall. [17 Sep 2003 16:21:05]

Great Thin Crust Pizza Have eaten there and other locations several times over that last 20 years. One of the best Pizza in NYC. Even if you don't like thin crust pizza, you will love this one. First try the plain cheese then try one with some of your favorite toppings. The sauce is to die for. You could eat the whole pie yourself. [18 Apr 2005 12:40:57]

Yes Definitely Overrated. Someone else described John's like this:

I agree with every word of this review; I could hardly have said it better. [21 Jul 2005 17:45:41]

Great Pizza! I've eaten at John's a few times, and I've always had an excellent experience there. The topping and cheese are fresh and excellent. I recommend the sausage and meatballs. The crust is crisp, but not too crisp. The sauce is fresh and delicous. The atmosphere is fantastic. [24 Sep 2005 13:03:19]
