Terrible service, Great food
Le Gamin's staff supports the American belief that all French people are brusque - service is never with a smile, efficient, or quick...but the job does get done. It doesn't help that they've crammed more tables into the space than there should probably be room for - the restaurant is always noisy and crowded. The food, on the other hand, is excellent - I am partial to the crèpes (particularly the sweet ones) but I hear the quiches are also good. Be aware that if you order a hot chocolate, you are ordering a soup bowl-sized portion, they will bring it to you with a spoon, and it will need sugar added! Most drinks are awfully expensive, though, so I recommend sticking with one of the juices. The decor is attractive, especially if you speak a bit of French - it's all old restaurant signs from France (and maybe Canada), filling the wall    [10 Sep 2001 15:00:32]
