Horrible Dissapointment My fiance took me to Tavern on the Green for Valentine's Day and we were both extremely dissapointed with the service. First, we had to wait in a tent for someone to acknowledge our reservation. Then, we get seated as though it was a factory. The wait staff was cold and brought out the wrong drinks. We order and it takes double the time to get our food than others around us. No one ever asked us how our meal was. Finally, to top it off, my dinner plate was given to someone else. The reason I know this to be true is because when I went to open my "doggie bag" the next day, the food that was in there, wasn't MINE. That's absolutely shameful and something to be ashamed of. I hope the restaurant changes its tune because the negative words will spread. [17 Feb 2004 22:18:06]

What Has Happened to This Place I used to love Tavern on the Green, it was a must on every trip to NYC. I am sad to say, the last 5 years have not been kind to the Tavern. While the restaurant is still there in all of her splendor, the touches that made her fabulous are long gone.
The Crystal Room is still lovely, but in order to serve as many humans as possible, the tables have been jammed in like a high school cafeteria. The once flawless service is absolutely horrendous, and that is putting it nicely. The wait staff was not only inattentive and rude, they actually snapped at us.
The quality of the food is still great but the rudeness and cafeteria setting and noise simply ruins what use to be a fabulous experience. [28 Jul 2005 09:05:29]

The servaice is poor. The food is fair. The wait staff is not very helpful and not very good. The music is good up to a certain hour then it turns to music for the 20 to 30 year old crowd. [13 Oct 2007 19:07:45]
