I have gone to the Old Mill every summer since I was born during the family vacation to Big Moose Lake, and I love everything about it! The food is always wonderful, and the family-style serving of soup and salad make it such a comfortable place to bring friends and family. The rustic decorations and the picture slide shows make it a fun experience and it's impossible to leave without feeling completely satisfied. [11 Aug 2005 13:13:15]

soup to die for My cousin and I had the delight of our summer at the Old Mill restaurant in Old Forge New York...they serve a beef barley soup that is out of this world, the waitress said they were famous for it and so we ordered it....I'm wondering now if they sell it by the gallon, if you go have the soup, you won't regret it. Adirondack splendor My Family has been going to the Old Mill for generations. My grandmother, mother and myself and now my children. We always stop when in Old Forge to grab one of the most wonderful Long Island duck in Cherry sauce. This restaurant is very family friendly yet elegant enough for you and some one dear. It reeks of what the Adirondacks means to most everyone I've ever talked to. It is and always will be a family tradition and memory maker. [30 Sep 2006 16:49:17]

A Favorite Until Our Last Visit. Our family has been visitng the area for the last 17 years and we have made the Old Mill our tradition on our last vacation evening every year until about two years ago. Expecting the usual excellent food and relaxing experience - we were very surprised to be highly disappointed. Our waiter was pushing the courses(soup, salad etc) at us so quickly that we barely had the time to taste anything! We were very rushed and before we had even gotten dressing on our salads; our entres were at the table! If that wasn't bad enough I had more crab shells in my crab gratin than crab itself - not good to be taking crab shells from every bite. I just gave up after a few bites. We would love to try and go back again sometime but not sure if we dare [09 Jul 2008 21:34:47]
