Description

Authentic Italian cuisine at higher than average costs, but with higher quality ingredients and quality. All sauces and dressings are homemade and the entrees are served with homemade bread and salads. Celiac friendly. Small dining area with friendly wait staff.

Everyone I know who has eaten here recommends it. On a Friday night expect a long wait (over 30 minutes) to get in. The place is small and doesn't look like much from the outside but don't be fooled by that. The food is authentic Italian and very good -- although pricey for a restaurant that lacks ambiance and a formal setting.    [20 Feb 2005 01:07:33]

If you like authentic Italian Food, eat here.
It pains me to share this restaurant with anyone, but Alessandro's doesn't lack for business! The food is excellent, authentic, freshly made, and the service is very friendly. It is small, but accounts for everyone seemingly enjoying themselves and considering others. Not a fancy place, in fact, a converted Dairy Queen, but it's the place to be for flavorful food. I, and many of my friends are driving from Cleveland which is testimonial enough. I'll take this place over Little Italy establishments.    [28 Feb 2005 14:05:04]

A bit of a disappointment.....
Visited Alessandro's on August 26th and it was not nearly as good as it was in the past. Cold bread delivered to the table is never a treat. Salads were not served and we had to ask for them when our entrees were delivered. The Italian dressing was lacking flavor and only tasted oily. However the creamy parmesan was good. The lasagna was very doughy and it seemed the lasagna noodles were way overcooked. The pesto with linguini was good, but not better than other local restaurants. The service was slow and inattentive. I was surely hoping for better experience.    [26 Aug 2006 18:58:26]

The PLACE to eat in Ashtabula
This is THE place to eat in Ashtabula and one of the best Italian restaurants not only in Ashtabula, but northeast Ohio. Its a small place, only tables and nothing much to look at if you are driving by, but once you taste the food you'll be back. We live in the area and eat here at least once if not twice a month. I've taken friends and family, including some very pick people and folks into gourmet food, and each and every one raved about the food and wanted to return. Excellent food quality, fresh ingredients, nicely presented, and the service is very friendly. You feel like you are being served by family, especially Zena:) Sometimes Alessandro, the owner/chef even serves. Do expect to wait if you visit on Friday/Saturday, but it is worth it.    [14 Dec 2006 18:14:37]

A superb restaurant
Alessandro's offers excellent, homemade dishes prepared with fresh ingredients.
The Sicilian-born chef is like an artist creating delectable masterpieces for his customers. He and his staff are both gracious and appreciative. I highly recommend this superb restaurant.    [26 Jul 2007 00:22:49]

Best Italian food ever!
We drive all the way from Hermitage, PA to eat at Alessandro's. His seafood ravioli is out of this world... but not on the menu. It's a special from time to time and so worth the drive. We've never had anything that wasn't fabulous. All home made by Alessandro. The place is very small but that just adds to the charm. We've waited an hour just for a table. WORTH EVERY MINUTE WAITED.    [15 May 2008 11:47:15]
