One of the WORST dining experiences ever!
Being a lover of ethnic cuisine, I am usually very patient with servers with language issues and/or cultural norms/differences. The meal (w/6 friends) at Empress Taytu tested all my patience and then some. From the lack of service at the bar to the lack of hot towels prior to a meal eaten with ones hands, the whole experience was stressful and annoying. The servers argued with us when we pointed out that they were nowhere to be found. They argued about bringing us more injera bread (major part of the meal). They never offered to adjust the bill for their lack of service and ettiquette. It's too bad that all this drama clouded what was actually decent food. But it's tough to enjoy a meal when one is constantly scanning for a server to complain to.....enough said.    [12 Feb 2004 18:49:36]

I always like to try different food and I found out that this was very tasty. One serving can be shared by two.
Only one server was there whenever I went. She did a tremendous job and explained everything. She was very pleasant,and attentive. When she noticed we needed something she was at our dining area and kept it in a romantic mood by not bothering us continually like other restaurants.
The restaurant was clean and we felt very comfortable. There's nothing negative that I can say about this restaurant.
It's wonderful, different and unforgetable...keeps me coming back and recommending it to others. Great before or after Theatre/Arts, museums etc.    [15 Nov 2008 12:58:17]
