Description

The Big Fat Greek Cuisina

Classic Greek cuisine including skordalia, baked scallops, avgolemono soup, melitzanosalata, moussaka, pastitsio, keftedes, grilled grouper and chicken lemonato. The building formally housed the Fisherman's Wharf Pier II, co-owned by the current owner of Big Fat Greek Cuisina, Niki Chalkias. Like the related Fisherman's Wharf in Bexley, this restaurant features many seafood entrees. For carry-out, the Gyro Market Express operating inside the restaurant is the right choice.

Big Fat Greek Cuisina delights with its classic dishes, setting - This Week News, by Gary Seman Jr., 15 February 2005; You don't necessarily have to know Capt. Niki to know the Big Fat Greek Cuisina has his thumbprints all over it. The new Upper Arlington restaurant has many of the signature characteristics Niki Chalkias, perhaps better known as Capt. Niki, has brought to the local dining scene: well-made, classic Greek dishes at reasonable prices. Cuisina is comfortable and its spacious dining room is accented by lots of columns, murals and soft lighting. Chalkias is in the kitchen, having lots of fun with garlic and lemons. That is evidenced by the garlic-prominent skordalia ($4.50), a velvety potato spread that has pert lemon notes. A touch of lemon also ignites the flavor of the melitzanosalata ($5.99), another cold starter that is nicely chunky with eggplant, feta cheese, roasted red peppers, Greek olives and walnuts for texture. - suggest change

We love it here
This is where we go on our birthdays and they accomodate us if there are just a few or if there are many. The owners are delightful and gracious and the food fresh, homemade and DELICIOUS. The mom makes all the desserts in the morning ~ light pastry, the baklava is decadent. Oh and try the lentil soup, and the feta appetizer    [19 Nov 2006 08:11:42]

Awesome food, great prices
This restaurant serves the best seafood ever! I have tried several items on the menu and they were all delicious. Not to mention the service is some of the best in Columbus.
Definitely a favorite restaurant of mine that I will continue going back to in the future. Thanks!!    [04 Jan 2006 10:55:15]

A GREAT DINING EXPERIENCE
My wife and I went there with another couple and all were impressed. From the appetizer to the entrees every thing was impeccable. One of the finest dining experiences I have had for a long time.    [16 Jan 2006 09:44:03]

I like it!
My wife and I have had two very pleasant experiences at this cozy and confortable restaurant. Our servers have been very polite and the food has been great. I especially love the warm pita bread and original dip which they bring out right away.    [03 Mar 2006 19:01:31]

After two unpleasant visits to this restaurant I remain unable to see how it remains in business. My soda was warm, my food was cold and bland in flavor and the ambiance is tacky and uninviting. Upon expressing my discontent with the undercooked meat in my entree the Owners/management were rude and unable to satisfy my desire to eat a safely prepared, quality dish. The kitchen appeared to be poorly operated and was visably dirty. All-in-all just a bad dining experience.    [16 Oct 2005 11:15:53]

Bring someone you like
An overall refreshing experience. In a time when service plays second-fiddle to fast food this restaurant delivers both. Wonderful service, and the food is definately some of the best I've had in the Columbus area. The prices are comparable to any restaurant in the area. My wife and I have been there a few times and always leave planning on going back.    [21 Jul 2006 19:57:44]

A Favorite Place
We have had many positive dining experiences at this restaurant. Besides great food and great service, we are welcomed like old friends whenever we arrive at this family run restaurant. We cannot list one negative thing.    [22 Dec 2006 23:06:15]

Terrific Restaurant
I've been here a few times with family and friends and have never been let down. The warm pita bread and dipping sauce is mouth-watering. Great restaurant. Owner and servers are quite friendly.    [15 Mar 2007 01:23:17]

Excellent Food, Friendly Staff, Fair Prices
I'll be honest, despite eating here at least a dozen times I still haven't gotten past the gyros, calamari and greek salads. All are fresh and delicious. You can tell the owners care about the food they sell. Highly recommended.    [22 Mar 2007 14:43:46]

Definitely A Favorite
Out of all the Greek places in Columbus, this one is one of the best. Friendly service and great food, what more can you ask for? Though the place is a bit small, the area is inviting.    [19 May 2007 12:29:45]
