An experience not to repeat
First let me say, I love Hibachi Japan normally, however I brought a sister there who had never been before. My other sister and mother also attended. We came for lunch, I bragged at how great the food is. Our cook was very rushed due to fact that when he came to cook the food the grill had not been turned on. So we waited! Then he barely cooked the rice (which is one of the best entrees normally) he simply warmed it and it was all gooey and stuck together in lumps, hardly any taste whatsoever. Other people who sat at our table had ordered extra rice and I knew they had to have been very disappointed also. The steak and chicken and shrimp were very good, however my mother had ordered shrimp also and they forgot to give her any at all until everyone else had their food and I told the cook she had not received hers, they went back and got more and cooked it hurriedly for her. I can't say the entire meal was a wash out but it was very disappointing since I was trying to impress my one sister that had not been there before. Normally I would not say anything about the service or condition of food at a dining place, I would just not go back, but since I do love your restaurant, I felt you should hear of this experience. Also, someone broke some glass while we were there so we were told that we could not have any soft drinks. Some of them drank the green tea, but of course I don't care for the tea so I had nothing as the water also did not taste very good. I am a great tipper, over 20% as a rule and I still tipped our waitress that amount not wanting to take my frustration out on anyone. One other thing, you have always had combinations like steak & shrimp or chicken & shrimp etc. This time you had to order an entree and you could get the other as a side. I ordered shrimp with steak as a side and was charged like two whole meals, while my other family was not charged like that and they also ordered in the same manner. My bill was like a double (just a note). Not sure what happened there. Again, this will not keep me from coming to Hibachi Japan some time, but it does warrant noting, don't you think?! My rating is for this experience only, normally it would be great!!!! The waitress was very rushed and did not offer anything to help with the fact that we could not have a soft drink, didn't offer your usual desert of sherbert and fortune cookie (which is a pleasant part of your traditional service). She was leaving before we got our coats and could leave, brought our checks before we had even had a chance to eat any of our meal, etc. Not a good day I guess! Moshi Moshi!
How can you not like Hibachi Japan? I was able to take my two daughters there, one 21, the other 18, and both commented that the restaurant provided entertainment and mouth-watering moments. Their Japanese food is to die for -- the flavor is something I have never tasted in another restaurant. Furthermore, both of my daughters liked it, which is a feat in itself. Hibachi Japan is the restaurant to have a exceptional dinner! Everytime we go we ask for chef John and he is AWESOME!! The Habachi Roll is one of our favorites there. If you never have had sushi, try this one. No its not raw fish its a deepfried shrimp with all the extras. Anyone who doesn't like Habachi would be crazy!    [09 Mar 2006 19:35:33]

AMAZING!!!
I am absolutely sold out to this restaurant! I've had my last 4 birthdays there, anniversaries, celebrations, and etc. there. I can't get enough of it. Even if it's not a special occasion, I'll find some reason to go. The service is great, the food is addicting, and the atmosphere is very peaceful and exciting.    [22 Aug 2006 16:40:15]

The first review on this page is WRONG!
The reviewers first comments about not being able to order combinations is incorrect. Currently, Hibachi Japan is not open for lunch, but when they were...the lunch menu was of course smaller and cheaper. Some combinations were offered, but not to the extent of the dinner menu. However, you could have ordered off the dinner menu if you had asked. Plus, a side of ribeye steak or filet mignon is always going to cost more than a side of shrimp. So, that's probably why your bill was so expensive.
Secondly, sherbet is not offered at lunch time either, because most people have to get back to work. However, you could have ordered sherbet if you had asked.
Finally, as far as the chef and server seeming like they were in a rush, it is lunch time and they try to get people out within 45 mins. That is a tough task with a restaurant of that style, I'm sure.
I just love this restaurant and the chefs, the servers, and the managers have always been more than willing to ensure that I have a wonderful experience. The only down part is that the wait is long on the weekends, but there are plenty of yummy cocktails to order while you wait!    [17 Apr 2007 12:19:30]

My Favorite Restaurant
Hibachi has been one of my very favorite restaurants for years! I used to celebrate my birthday there every year for lunch. But now I'm so disappointed that they're not open for lunch any more! It was always packed during lunch time. I just don't understand. We tried another Japanese restaurant in the area last year, but it just didn't compare.    [31 May 2007 10:21:25]
