Description
The second Genji Japanese Steak House. The restaurant, founded in 1994 in Reynoldsburg, is known for its "yum yum" sauce, the recipe for which is a closely guarded secret. The Dublin location is a new brick building on Sawmill Rd south of Rt 161.
Typical Japanese steakhouse where they prepare steak, chicken, seafood, vegetables, sprouts, rice at your table. The chefs will also entertain the customers. You may be seated with others depending on the size of your group. Expect to spend around $25 for dinner per person. They do have a kid's menu.

Good and Delicious This is the best Japanese steakhouse. I've been traveling all across Columbus to go to the one in Reynoldsburg, so I'm super glad there's one with a shorter distance now. I've called ahead and waited 10 min in the restaurant. The chefs are very entertaining and the timing of the courses is great! Fun for the whole family! [10 Jan 2007 13:49:58]

Okay Okay I guess if you are American, I can see why this place is great and delicious. Service is great, and there is actually a Japanese chef there! I was surprised. Two of them. Even the owner is Japanese, unlike House of Japan.
Yum Yum sauce is okay. It's nothing special. If you want the recipe, go to Google and look it up; it's there.
I would go back, but probably only for lunch. [20 Jan 2007 19:03:16]

This Food Is More Like Chinese This was not really authentic Japanese food, it was more like Chinese. I had never been to a Japanese steak house before, only to sushi/Japanese restaurants. At those places I had sushi, ten gatsu, tempura, edamame, seaweed salad, etc--all traditional Japanese dishes. NONE of that was at this Japanese steakhouse. I expected maybe a teriyaki chicken dish, but even that was not on the menu! Everything comes with fried rice, not plain white rice (white rice is optional). Fried rice is a Chinese dish!
The food was terrible--everything tasted like soy sauce--the chef just drowned everything in the stuff! I ordered the steak and shrimp, and was expecting the shrimp to be spiced with "secret spices and lemon" like the menu said, but it , too, was covered in soy. And salt and pepper are the "secret spices?" And they ask you how you want your steak cooked, but it doesn't really matter, since they cut it in cubes, it all gets done to medium anyway. The appetizer eggrolls were horrible. They were really heavy, greasy, and fried so long that they were hard. The insides were filled with some sort of mushy cabbage, and no shrimp or pork to be found, even though we ordered meat eggrolls. And the "salad" is just iceberg lettuce with "Yum Yum" sauce on it. What the heck is that stuff? It tastes like the onion ring sauce they give you at Burger King. Is it mayonnaise? Thousand Island Dressing? Are you supposed to put it on your stir-fried rice? Isn't it "flavorful" enough already with all the soy sauce? Do Americans have to put mayonnaise on everything? I was expecting yum-yum sauce top be more like a sweet and sour sauce or maybe honey-teriyaki, but, sadly, you won't find any teriyaki in this so-called Japanese restaurant. The soup was lame as well, just a few measly mushrooms floating in some broth. And it is really expensive. I paid $12.95 for lunch! It was mostly the rice, about 7 shrimp, some steak, and a few veggies that were over-cooked. It came with a tiny cup of soup. I just don't know why people like this food. And I don't know why you want to eat at a table with other people. The chefs were not all that entertaining, they were okay, but at a restaurant, for those prices, it should be about the food, not the entertainment. They also rush you in and rush you out of there, so if you want to sit and enjoy your meal, here is not the place to go. [23 Jan 2007 14:26:59]

Got Yum Yum? The food was excellent and the service too. The chefs are fun and entertaining and the Yum Yum sauce is great. You'll try it...or else! [27 Jan 2007 16:37:19]

A Fan!
Great Experience Great food and great value. Compared to House of Japan, the food has much less oil and you get a choice of soup or salad(instead of just salad).
I have to say, it is obvious "asushifan" had not been to a Japanese Steakhouse before.
It is not expensive compared to other Japanese Steakhouses in the area. I would like to see another restaurant where you get soup or salad, 7 shrimp, and a sirloin steak served on a bed of fried or steamed rice with steamed bean sprouts for less than $12.95...oh wait...I can't see that, because there isn't one.
Most people go to Genji, instead their competition, because of the "yum yum" sauce.
Don't go to a "Hibachi" restaurant if you don't like eating next to other people.
Don't go to a Japanese Steakhouse if you like sushi....go to a sushi bar.
Rush you in?....isn't that good? I like to eat when I go somewhere, not wait to eat. You don't have to leave until you're ready to go.
If you don't like anything, they will replace it....like steak or veggies cooked too long.
I have gone there 5 times so far, and will be back many more times. [14 Jul 2007 23:17:45]
