Mr. Sushi - Quick review of local carryout - The Columbus Dispatch, By Scott C. Johnson, 6 April 2005; Odds are good that there is a restaurant named ''Mr. Sushi'' in just about any large city in America. But in Columbus, Mr. Sushi has its own personality. Open less than a year in Gahanna's Vista Plaza, Mr. Sushi has already made a name with its signature approach to sushi. The menu features a big selection of traditional nigiri and roll sushi that's on par with some of the best in town. But opt for the specialty rolls -- all 24. The Black Forest roll ($5.95) combines sweet barbecued eel, julienne sweet potatoes and cucumber. A layer of salty black tobiko (flying-fish roe) covers the rice exterior of the roll. Other choices such as the volcano roll ($5.95) -- a baked California roll topped with a spicy mayonnaise, tobiko and scallions -- offer new takes on old classics. The lobster roll ($14.95) is a high-end original; its deep-fried lobster tail is rolled with spicy mayo, lettuce and asparagus. . . . . . - suggest change

Best sushi in the area I've eaten at every sushi place I know of in Columbus, and this is the one place I keep coming back to - at least once a week. The food is very inexpensive (relatively speaking, for sushi), but is perfectly prepared and tastes incredible. The dining area is pretty small, but the service is good and it usually isn't too busy. If you're looking for casual place to eat with a great selection, this is the place.
They have great lunch specials too - you can get miso soup, a small salad, and dessert for free [30 Oct 2005 16:33:40]

Best Sushi in Columbus Like the previous reviewer, I've eaten in just about every sushi place in Columbus. I've made it a personal goal to try them all. But I hit a snag on my path to reaching this goal - I found Mr. Sushi. Now I have no reason to go anyplace else. Mr. Sushi is, hands down, the best place for nigiri and rolls in the area. While there is nothing on the menu that I've tried that I would not recommend, I would especially steer people towards the spicy tuna rolls (they add in a bit of tempura giving it a light, pleasant crunch). Mmm Mmm Sushi! I haven't been to EVERY sushi place in Columbus, but have been to many - Mr. Sushi is the best I've found both in and out of Columbus. The pricing is very affordable, and the portion sizes are generous (especially compared to many higher-priced places). Yes, the dining area is small, but they do take carry-out orders. I've even shrunk their menu on my copier and laminated it so I can carry it with me and phone in a carry-out order whenever the mood strikes me! Also, after 2 years, Mr. Sushi finally has a liquor license! [03 Aug 2006 09:03:08]
