Vegetarians beware - not much selection I eat lunch twice a week with a group of guys, and we stopped at Heidi's today now that it's open. There are plenty of options when it comes to soups and salads and sandwiches. The bread and ingredients are fresh, and the sandwiches we had were delicious. However, I noticed that there weren't many vegetarian-friendly options. And of the ones that were there, the eggplant Parmesan sandwich was great from what my co-worker had said. It was thick in ingredients and quite filling. However, our vegetarian co-worker had a veggie sandwich and it lacked filling. No sprouts, no cheese... even though he had asked for them.
I had ordered a Genoa salami and provolone sandwich, which was how it was listed on the menu, but I was still charged extra for the cheese. So you really need to pay attention to who's working the cash register so that you are rung up properly.
Another quirk here is that they use paper towels instead of napkins, and the paper towel rolls were scattered all over, rather than being where you might expect to find napkins or other paper staples to clean up with.
The restaurant itself has a nice patio outside if you enjoy outside dining. The inside was very clean and of a decent size. The staff did come out to make sure we were okay.
If you aren't venturing into the valley, Heidi's is an okay deli. However, if you're going down into the valley, there are much better options down there. [16 Jul 2007 22:31:49]
