Carchedi's - Just like mamma makes
This low profile, no frills working class Italian diner in the small town of Lowelville, Ohio, is worth the visit if in the Youngstown/Pittsburgh area. The food is excellent and the service is friendly and conversations are easy to have with other locals and the staff. I often went here to eat with family and friends, traveling from Youngstown to this small town for the homemade gnocci that is the best in the region. However, the thick and rich marinara sauce is the same for other pasta dishes. It has a nice balance of tomato, basil, garlic and oregano without commiting the sin of being too salty or acidic.    [10 Oct 2006 16:57:54]
