La Fogato Grill - This Week - Your Community Newspaper, By Gary Seman Jr., 30 September 2004; Raeshelle Bauders and Crispin Alvarez have opened La Fogata Grill in the old Montana Mining Co. site in Pickerington. The restaurant, whose name means bonfire in Spanish, seats 260. Smoking is permitted at the bar. Bauders said the restaurant specializes in made-from-scratch, classic Mexican cuisine. La Fogata Grill is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. - suggest change
La Fogata Grill - AOL City Guide, By Sandra Gurvis; It's hard to believe, but at one time there was actually a shortage of Mexican restaurants in Columbus. These days, the opposite seems to be true -- even suburbs have several options. Anotther addition to Pickerington's Mexican scene, La Fogata Grill is a redecorated former steakhouse (now a much colorful place) and has the whole enchilada: festive menu, music, loud TVs and a Margaritaville-style bar that can host karaoke. There's plenty of seating, however, so if it gets too noisy you can always move. In addition to combination plates of tacos, burritos and tostados, as well as half-a-dozen kinds of nachos, you can select from fajitas (shrimp, chicken, beef, veggie or a combo) and house specialties. They include a chimichanga suprema, which is deep-fried, stuffed with chicken or beef, and topped with guacamole and cheese, among others. - suggest change

Nice, Casual, Affordable, Family Orientation
My family and I eat here often. it is pleasant and quick and very affordable. The service is always wonderful, the food is delicious. it is our favorite place to eat out. The drink prices are also good. We LOVE it.    [18 Apr 2006 11:34:17]

THE best in Central Ohio
I absolutely LOVE Mexican food. I travel to Mexico frequently and am always anxious to try a new "authentic" Mexican Restaurant when they pop up in Columbus. The food is fabulous. For those in the know, the menu is an exact replica of Mazatlan (right down Hill Rd.), but the staff & ambiance are far superior here to that of Mazatlan. If I want to substitute a cheese enchilada for a beef enchilada, the staff at La Fogata are more than happy to accommodate any such request. In fact, they have suggested things when I couldn't decide. La Fogata has earned my business and is - BY FAR - my favorite restaurant in Central Ohio!    [24 Dec 2005 21:25:15]

VISITED MANY TIMES
This fantastic restaurant always lives up to their high standard of fresh food, great service and quality atmosphere. On our last visit we learned that they hired a Spanish singing guitarist! What a great voice this gentleman has!

Keep up the great work La Fogata!!! We love your restaurant!!!!    [13 Sep 2005 17:18:13]

They found their groove.
The first couple of visits I could tell they were working through the newness. Now, I won't eat Mexican food anywhere else. What a great place to meet friends and have awesome food.    [11 May 2005 13:56:08]

THE PLACE FOR MEXICAN FOOD & ATMOSPHERE
Lunch today: Perfect. Why would anyone go to a fast food joint when they can come here? Love this Place! Love the food, the people, the upbeat atmosphere and the desire to please the customer. We have not been disappointed. Have had numerous lunches and dinners, all great. I read a couple of the reviews of disappointment. I hope they were kind enough to voice their complaints so LaFogata could make it right. A new business will usually go out of their way to right a wrong, especially during that first year of trial & error with recipes and staffing. We love this Happy Place!    [04 Jan 2005 21:42:04]

Great Food, Great Margaritas, Great Service
Visited this restaurant on 12/23/04. They were one of the few places with electricity from the ice storm. What a friendly port in the storm. The food, service and Margaritas were all excellent. All of this was at a time when the restaurant was packed as many other people came in looking for food and warmth. I look forward to return trips as this could become our favorite Mexican stop.    [04 Jan 2005 16:25:13]

Not going back to La Fogata
Decided to try this place with a few friends, and had a terrible experience. Food came out within ten minutes of ordering it, the drinks came 5 minutes after that. I asked specific questions about what a dish did and did not contain, was given an answer that it did not contain 2 ingredients that I'm allergic to so I ordered it, and when my meal arrived it was covered in the 2 things I was trying to avoid. One person's meal was burned, scorched really, anothers was so greasy he could not eat it.    [22 Dec 2004 16:02:45]

Perhaps just because it's new...
This place, in the former Montana Mining Company building (inheriting bad karma?), is very Chi Chi's-esque (can I say that?). But that notwithstanding, my family and I gave it a go. Well...go we did, and without our left-overs. The service was not good from one server, but another server (who also took care of us) was very friendly. Margaritas were basic, made with a mix, the carnitas were oily (dripped on my favorite jeans! Can you believe it?), my son's taco meat was completely unseasoned, and nothing arrived (out of 4 of us) at the same time. It wasn't the worst experience of my life, but it was one that will not make me rush back.
Perhaps they just need some time.
If you're looking for really good Mexican (I'm sorry La Fogata) try the place on Main Street Columbus/Whitehall)- delicioso!    [16 Oct 2004 21:36:58]

Best Mexican Restaurant in Town
My husband and I had our engagement party here, and they did a wonderful job. Now, we have dinner here at least once a week, if not more. The service is excellent and the food and drinks are fantastic. Love the salsa. I don't know how anyone could not like this place. They must give a try a second time.    [17 May 2006 10:20:19]
