Authentic Italian Cuisine This is a family run restaurant in a remodeled storefront building near the center of historic olde Pickerington. A covered patio/porch to the left of the front is very popular in the warmer months. Walking in the front door, there is an open kitchen directly to the right, a bar to the left, chairs and white linen tables in the middle open area and facilities to the rear along with access to the patio. The restaurant offers authentic upscale Italian cuisine including baked lasagna, a variety of pasta dishes, seafood, veal, steak, pork, chicken, salads, soup and appetizers. The dishes are unique as is the red sauce served with some of the dishes. While I personally wouldn't rave about my pasta dish, there is a loyal following from the local community. You can request that they lighten up on the red sauce or have it on the side, in case you don't care for the spices used in the rich tomato sauce with little bits of tomato. The white bread and garlic bread was good, although not fresh baked as in some restaurants. The pasta did not appear to be homemade, but that rarely makes a difference from my viewpoint. Service was excellent and friendly. The ambiance leans towards a great place for a romantic evening, although you will find families here as well. As for pricing, as with most upscale Italian restaurants it will cost considerably more that faster versions of Italian food. This place has not replaced my favorite up north on Rt 256, but it was enjoyable (3 stars) overall. Don't let that stop you from trying it though, since it is a unique taste that you may rate with 5 stars. [11 Oct 2007 15:08:27]
