Pleasant servers (knowledgeable about the food and the wines), homemade breads and desserts by baker-owner Krista Lopez and one of the outstanding Italian wine lists anywhere (with some of the lowest markups around) make this a destination. Another plus: La Tavola continues its transition to a lot of organic ingredients. Although plenty of regular-menu items (homemade meat-filled tortelloni and veal saltimbocca, for example) make it worth a trip, don't overlook the blackboard, especially if you value seasonal produce. And, be aware that chef Lopez is overhauling the menu, lopping off some old-time Italian dishes in favor of new wave.
